| Yes, it is Lear 40 XR. Less than 400 hours on it.

| We've got two 40XR's here as well. Both pretty new, one with less than 300 hours, the other less than 200. We also have a LJ45 on our certificate. Good aircraft, nice performers. I've got about 125 hours in them since getting typed back in November.

| The LR40 actually climbs quite well. On that day, ISA +3 we climbed to FL410 in 16 minutes and leveled off at FL450 4-5 minutes later. The fuel burn rates at 450 are around 500 per side so it is where we like to cruise.

| ![]() Most trips of any length we're at FL410 - FL450. At lighter weights it does 470+ pretty easy as well. Max certified is FL510. I've seen around FL500 on a long flight before we started back down.

| Old Skool | I thought Lear's were rocket ships, didn't realize barber pole was a slow .81. I figured it'd be a little higher than that? |

.81 might seem slow, but when you can climb up to the mid FL40's in 20 minutes or less, we can really take advatage of the winds, low fuel burn and higher TAS.

| Old Skool | Word Holmes, that makes some sense! We've got the same problem in the ERJ, oddly enough. It'll overspeed itself at most altitudes if you leave it in the detent. Once you start to get into the 20's, though, it generally won't do that and you can leave the power into the detent. |

| Cool. One question though; what is "ISA+3"? ISA stands for International Standard Altitude? |
