Nice! Looks like you were dealing with some thin clouds. It was clear over here, but very cold.

How do you guys get good pictures like that at night. Im the farthest thing from a photographer and I can't take a damn picture at night for the life of me. Do you have a tripod or are those just hand help snapshots. What settings do you use?

I have no photography talent, just a decent camera. Its a kodak z612, kinda bulky for everyday use but it has great (12x optical) zoom, which is awesome for taking shots from planes. For night shots you have to keep the camera perfectly steady and i don't have a tripod, so i just put it on a window sill tonight. You can try a quicker exposure too, sometimes that can do the trick.

It was too cloudy in New Orleans last night to get a good look at it.

I've got an old Sony Cybershot 5.0 with 4x zoom.

For night you need a tripod or at least a surface to set the camera on. With the surreal reddish picture I increased the exposure to 30 seconds. If you have a manual - you can read about increasing the amount of exposure. Lots cheaper to experiment on the digital too!

Those are great shots! I'm hoping some more people post theirs, too.

Now - I've got to get someone to remove that other comment about the PHX lights... DOUG!!!!
