Default Name The Airport

From mid-December. Went on a trip with the family before I started training. Should be fairly easy for some of you to figure out. Captain_Bob not allowed to answer this one!

My son is even trying to tell you where we were!

No, never went in there. I wanted to take the Seminole in when I was instructing in the central valley in 2006 but ended up doing Catalina and South Lake Tahoe and other places instead.

I pass by it on the SEAVU and RIIVR arrivals now. The hills in the background looked like just the right amount of snow cover to be there right now from what I saw a few days ago and the water at the end of the runway sealed the deal!

That's a pretty nice airport. I just realized they have a graphical ODP:

Is the terrain really that high up there? I don't think a trainer can climb that high.

Yeah..there's a nice amount of terrain close to the airport. I flew in at night, which was a little nerve wracking. At night, there are no lights anywhere on the mountains, so I climbed up to 10,500 and didn't descend until the GPS showed I was over the lake...I know, not the best method, but I had the runway lights in sight and knew (or hoped) I had to be over the lake. My wife and kid had driven down earlier, so it was just me..for those that were wondering.

Would've guessed Big Bear too, but someone beat me to it. Never flown in, but seen it from the mountain when snowboarding! :-) Looks like a great airport to land at.
