Default London

Ok, here's some news you can use.

ALWAYS check the AM/PM of your alarm clock. Better yet, if it can display the 24 hr clock, use it!

We got to the hotel by about 8:30-ish, I set my alarm clock in order to wake up at noon, get a workout and to go to Brighton or to explore Crawley a bit.

Low and behold, I set the alarm clock for 12.... AM! DOH! So here it was, 5pm before I realized I had overslept.

So here are the most boring photos ever!

Here's Crawley:

Fairly quiet, suburban town...

Shopping mall near the hotel:

Park near the shopping mall...

You know, these things are handy because I kept looking the wrong direction while crossing the roads:

Windy, rainy, dark. Buggers!

Stand 51, mid...

Cool underpass. Unfortunately, we didn't get to taxi under it:

Coasting in over NE Canada:

Planes were having a hell of a time in the crosswind and low level turbulence, but by the time I pulled my camera out, ehh, most of the drama had subsided. The camera shaking is mostly from the wind.

Yeah..the turb has been pretty bad this week..we experienced it pretty much halfway over and some other crews coming in today also mentioned the rough ride.

Is Crawley right by the Airport?

The crews at dads airline stay at the airport, but get a free pass on the Gatwick express to get into town.

I'd like to call my experience at Gatwick "Non-Consensual Physical Contact".

Holy cow! I hate to say it, but... oh, this is going to cost me cool points, but they're more anal than the TSA.

I think we might stay at the same hotel as it's full of airline people.

Does he stay at a hotel that's a misspelled version of a failed GM brand?

I never understood how English people could be so darn cheerful all the time with the drury weather that seems to almost always be present.

Different place. They can walk to their hotel named after one of Britney's friends.

Ahh. You know, we're pretty close to the airport, but it still take about 15-20 mins.

Riding a bus in the UK is weird. You get in on the wrong side, way too many traffic circles and you can't anticipate the turns. Makes a brother dizzy.

Haha, I loved London while I was there on vacation. So much history if you have the time to tour the city.

At least you didn't try to drive there, Doug. Really dangerous when switching sides in a car. Not to mention the drivers over there are also insane.

Great pics Doug! Have you been to Brixton? Go'n see Brixton next time you're there. It is literally like being in "Little Jamiaca" without the beach and Palm trees. I will post my pics in a few months when I get back from my trip in Stockholm.

Well, it was my second time in the UK. The first time Kristie got sick and I was hungry so we left a few days earlier than initially planned.

This was my second time in the UK.

Hmmm, I spent several weeks in the country early last year driving all over the place and never really had a problem. I was mightily helped by the fact that it was an automatic though.

And yes, walking around London is an experience not to be missed.
