Didn't know if this quite fit into general topics, so here it is. Mods, feel free to move it to General Topics if it should be there and I ask for your forgiveness. [a.net moment] Here's the first pics of the 777LR in the new livery at Boeing. Really looking forward to seeing this thing in person. [/a.net moment] Now back to your regulary scheduled postings. |

Cool pics! This is a great airplane to bid if you like to eat kimchee, falafel, and dog fried rice. |

Yesterday I read the first day of service is March 8 with an LAX turn. I'm sure that's what Boeing had in mind when they built a plane with 9000NM range. |

Delta management, in their infinite wisdom, put the new 777LR on ATL - LAX in order to free up more 50 seat CRJs to fly additional transcontinental and international routes! ![]() [ Relax, I'm joking guys! ] This is not my area of expertise but I think each new airplane has to fly a certain amount of hours to get ETOPS certified. | ------------------------------ On our 767-300ERs, 3 pilot crews are required for most of our international flights. During cruise, the pilots take turns resting. There is a designated pilot rest seat, located at 6C. The rest seat has a wrap-around privacy curtin and a footrest cushion. But the location of this seat, [last row of biz class, middle secion, on aisle,] is poor. The mid galley is right behind you. So are the mid lavs. When the FAs do thier service, the bigger ones usually bump into you through the curtin with their thighs or butt. Here you are, trying to sleep, and you have some big old butt rubbing on you! This is what we refer to as: The Pilot Rest Seat Lap Dance So I wrote a song about it. You can hear it if you go to the "aviation humor" section of this forum. Here are the lyrics: Guitar chords in [ ] ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Pilot Rest Seat Lap Dance [E] Trying to sleep on 1st break [A] All I hear are clanging plates [E] Slamming of the galley carts [A] From the bathroom there’s the sound of farts She goes stomping up and down the aisle So hard that it shakes my seat If she’d slow down and be quieter The passengers have time to eat [D] But it’s her pilot rest seat lap dance that’s [A] keeping me up [C] With her big ol’ international ba [E] donkadonk butt A curtin waving wide ride rubbing my side I’d like to get some sleep before it’s my turn to fly If I bid the triple seven In it’s bunk room I could get some sleep But I don’t want to layover in Seoul or Dubai all damn week But it’s her pilot rest seat lap dance that’s keeping me up With her big ol’ international badonkadonk butt A curtin waving wide ride rubbing my side I’d like to get some sleep before it’s my turn to fly The crew rest module should be installed in the entire fleet The benefits of safety will be Well worth one less business seat But it’s her pilot rest seat lap dance that’s keeping me up With her big ol’ international badonkadonk butt A curtin waving wide ride rubbing my side I’d like to get some sleep before it’s my turn to fly But it’s her pilot rest seat lap dance that’s keeping me up With her big ol’ international badonkadonk butt A curtin waving wide ride rubbing my side I guess I won’t be alert when it’s my turn to fly |

| Somewhere over Middle-America and we overheard Kansas City Center struggling with the destination of a Delta flight. They were going from Atlanta-Incheon Korea.

Delta's marketing department is too busy micro-managing the entire airline. They do not have time to do any actual marketing. Every other day, I hear from somebody: "Oh, I didn't know Delta flew there." For those of you who wish to non-rev, here is a list of places we go. [But SHHHHHHH! Don't tell anyone. Our marketing departments apparently wants to keep this all secret.] Everywhere in USA including Honolulu Kona Maui Kauii [soon] Anchorage Fairbanks Everywhere in Mexico All big cities in Canada Everywhere in the Caribbean Tokyo Seoul Shanghai [soon] Mumbai Shannon Dublin Manchester London Edinburgh [soon] Madrid Barcelona Malaga [soon] Paris Nice Lyon [soon] Brussles Amsterdam Copenhagen Stockholm [soon] Dusseldorf Stuttgart Franfurt Berlin Munich Zurich Vienna Prague Milan Pisa Rome Venice Athens Budapest Bucharest Kiev Moscow Warsaw [I think, soon] Istanbul Tel Aviv Dubai Amman [soon] Cairo Dakar Nairobi [soon] Accra Lagos Cape Town [soon] Johannesburg Rio de Janerio Sao Paulo Santigo Buenos Aires Bogata Caracas Quito Guyaquil Lima San Jose Liberia Guatamala City San Pedro Sula Roatan San Salvador Panama City Belize Managua Plus a few more I'm sure I forgot Last edited by Mad Doggy Dog; January 30th, 2008 at 20:46. | Delta currently flies the 767-300ER non-stop to: Dakar Accra Lagos Nairobi, Cape Town and Johannesburgh, all 767-300ERs, stop in Dakar for fuel. There is a crew change there as well. When we get more 777s, they will fly Cape Town and Johannesburgh non-stop. I flew ATL-DKR-JNB-DKR-ATL once. I did it to say, "I did it." It is a 6 day trip for us. I thought flying in Africa was downright scary. No radar in Dakar, no radar enroute, monster thunderstorms, and overflight of dangerous countries. Dakar looks like it has been nuked, but is relatively safe, albeit dirt poor. The poverty is so bad it makes you want to cry. I didn't dare eat the food other than pizza and beer at the hotel. JNB is "civilized" but the crime is really bad. Kidnapping and murders, that sort of thing. Food was great, and I got to play with a giraffe. I have no need to go back to Africa. I took Delta to EDI last January, so they already go there. Unless they don't go there anymore and will be going there again. On the way back the entire flight, including the 8 or so FAs all would have fit in a CRJ. We left with 41 passengers, including my non-rev ass. So many people think of Delta as a go anywhere in the states through ATL airline, which I loved for non-reving.

Unfortunately for us nonrevs Mad Doggy Dog half those destinations are always full (I guess that is good for the airline though)...I keep meaning to get down to South America, but people tell me that the weight limitations ouf of there are a nonrevs' nightmare. BTW, awesome song. I've gotten 6C 2-3 times, and I tried really hard not to move so the poor pilots could sleep. For sake of being accurate, you might have to add in a verse about some nonrev keeping you awake j/k....the last time, I recall, the pilot kept waking ME up!

I know you can non-rev internationally, but are you allowed to jumpseat internationally? What are the limitations on that?

Shhhh! I know. Don't let the word get out. ![]() The French do make excellent wine. Tres Bon! Fortunately, many pilots are "#####s." They bid long trips for more money. Eastern Europe goes more senior than Western Europe. Hell, even Lagos, one of the most dangerous places on earth, goes senior as you can get paid for 24 flight hours on a 3 day trip..... and your plane [ modified 767-300ER ] has a crew rest module.....ie. bunk room. That being said, places like Nice and Barcelona can go senior becuase they are great places. I am sure Lyon and Malaga will follow suit. Last edited by Mad Doggy Dog; January 31st, 2008 at 09:39.
