| Senior Member | I never got around to posting it in Member Announcements, but back in August I was hired by Landmark Aviation at Quonset State Airport (OQU) in North Kingstown, RI (The Quonset Hut was invented here during World War II). I heard about the job from a friend of mine who worked there who has since left to pursue flight training out of state (network, network, network!), and I absolutely love the job so far. I do everything from aircraft refueling to lavatory services; and field inspections/light bulb replacing to scaring the crap out of seagulls with a pyro gun (we're right on the bay; they like to drop shells and crabs on the runways). As far as aircraft, I've seen everything from Beechjets to a private 757, as well as various piston aircraft. I usually try to bring my camera to work, because when I leave it at home something cool happens; like a MiG-15 (this one being the world's oldest flyable jet) coming in. I'm using a Canon PowerShot S3 IS; I resized them down to 800 × 600 using Windows Image Resizer so quality isn't what it could be, but I'd rather they fit on the page and take up less of Doug's bandwidth. At any rate, here's what I've got so far: ![]() Beechjet 400A. ![]() Local tiedowns, with one of our various NOTAMed crains and the Martha's Vineyard ferry in the background. ![]() One of three Jet-A trucks parked in front of the fuel farm. ![]() Cessna Citation X ![]() Cessna 172 ![]() The FBO that time forgot... ![]() C-37A, which is an Air Force version of the Gulfstream V. ![]() Rhode Island Air National Guard C-130J landing on runway 34. ![]() Another, taken from the roof this time. ![]() A Fouga CM.170 Magister; a 1950s French-built jet trainer. Owned by the guy who owns the previously mentioned MiG; believe he's with Red Star Aviation and I think both aircraft are here to stay at the Quonset Air Museum. Some Navy Test Pilot school students went up in this recently as part of a project. It's not too bad on takeoff and pretty quiet while landing, but ear-splittingly loud while taxiing.

| Senior Member | A few more: ![]() Another shot of the Fouga. ![]() Beautiful Piper Comanche; note the airbrushed Indian on the main gear door. ![]() Learjet 31. ![]() Long exposure of the terminal and tower at night. ![]() Had early ops this past Saturday; as the sun was rising I figured I'd go up on the roof again to take a few. ![]() Sunrise over Naragansett Bay. ![]() Gulfstream IV. ![]() The fuel farm, the jet trucks and avgas truck, local tiedowns, sewage treatment facility, an unlit crane that's not lowered at night, and the Jamestown bridge. That's all for now, I'm sure I'll have more soon. -Joe

| "It's not too bad on takeoff and pretty quiet while landing, but ear-splittingly loud while taxiing." There is one of those based out at my airport too, I always have to plug my ears when it taxis out. Great Pictures! |

| I went to my first airshow at OQU. After seeing your pics, I want to fly down there just for memory's sake. I'll let you know if I ever do.

| I was a line guy for 10 years, had some great times, and learned more about being a pilot than anywhere else I could think of. It also got me the job I have now! Remember, network network network, make a great impression, and NEVER burn your bridges!! |
