Default How to deal with a ground stop...

Usually KIAD just ticks along quite nicely. Yesterday, not really.

I decided to take refuge inside the airplane to avoid the famous question. "So, how long do you think the ground stop is going to last?"

I think I am going to open a coffee shop in KATL and call it "The Ground Stop." I'm sure the title would be appreciated.

For ATL that would be a very appropriate name but you would need to make sure you have the store on all 5 concourses.

I do it as well.

If one forgets the wallet with the certs in there, wouldn't want to get ramp checked that day.

I do as well... in fact... I keep my ALPA card, Medical, FCC Lic, as well as my Pilot's License behind my ID in one of those clear plastic picture holders.

My wallet is not one of those thick "butt bumps"... it's basically a nice small leather business card holder with my Drivers License, Debit, and Credit Card... so there's not a lot of room in it.... which I prefer.

The way I figure... if I loose my Company ID... then I'm not flying anyway... and I'm definately more apt to forget my wallet than I am my ID. It also helps when jumpseating... having all your docs right there for the captain to see. That's just me though... YMMV

I like the thin wallet too. I definitely don't have the George Costanza wallet

I always to this funky, self pat down (no jokes!) walking out the door.

I always liked the old saying - "Testicles, spectacles, keys, wallet..." add a couple of more items - phone, watch - and you are set!

The jumpseating thing is my reason as well. Some captains want to see everything, some don't. It just helps to have everything there. My CFI is in there too if I am teaching that day.
