Gawd, I remember when I was in HS, you HAD to have a pair of Doc Martens or you might as well just go hide in a hole. It was social suicide to not have them!

Uhhhh....Sorry dude....plenty of SA here. I could not make out the name on the box because of the plastic. Can't tell if it is za, ze, or.........But seeing as how you have probably shopped there, you would already know that.

BTW, I tried a few combinations and finally found it anyway, so there...

The word on the street is saying they're owned by Nike and made in Thailand.

From what I have witnessed, their quality has suffered.

With that said, I currently wear a pair of 9 year old docs daily.

I've had my first and only pair since 1992. Just wish I could get them in half-sizes.

Gel insoles do wonders for them, by the way.

That is 100% true. I've owned five pairs of boots, always the model 1460, and have always loved them. I just bought a new pair (three months ago) and will not make that mistake again. First thing I noticed is that the dye used on the inside of the boot stained all of my socks orange, even after bleaching. The boots are already well-worn looking, which is very premature. I'd always wear them, and use them hard, and they wouldn't show wear until about a year.

Major thumbs down.

I ordered a new pair of work shoes, some casual shoes and Kristie's shoes came in the same box.

My feet SUCK. They're flatter than Fred Flintstones and I'm actually one of those rare people that wear them not for fashion, but for comfort.

Looks like a shoe, feels like a freaking sneaker!

What if you got some pump high-tops and spray painted them black?

Then I'd look as goofy as an airline pilot in full uniform bebopping to his iPod while walking in the terminal!

I betchya mine are flatter

I was blessed with crazy-ugly flat-as-a-board feet. I have zero arch on either foot, nothing. I once had a doctor glance at my bare feet (I was being seen for something completely different) and she said "What did you say you do again?" When I told her I was a flight attendant she was floored that I could physically do the job with my feet.

I hate my feet. I will not wear sandals or open-toe shoes of any kind. Ever.

Next time I see ya we'll have a 'flat foot' contest!

Ok, I'm entering the flat feet contest as well! Mine are flat as a pancake as well. I marvel at gals who can walk in stillettos, it's amazing to me. I walk like a drunk duck in high heels. I don't think that my flat feet are ugly though, just flat!

Bought my first pair of Doc Martens years ago while in London. I thought I had scored a cool find, only to get on the Underground, and find that almost every chick on the tube was wearing the same boots. Oh well, I guess that made me "London cool"

I didn't think Docs were TSA friendly? Are you removing your shoes every day?

I've gone country! I bought some Ariat Ropers for the winter months- not sure I'll go back to my cheapie Deer Stags when it warms up! These things are comfy and warm. Granted, I'm not hiking or anything in them, but with some wool socks, I've done leisurly walk-arounds in -40 weather! TSA friendly, too!

Those will work well in case there's some #### to be kicked through on the ramp.

I thought I read somewhere that those were a "required" uniform piece up in the Great White North. All ANC-based pilots wore them.

I've noticed a strange correlation between pilots who wear cowboy boots and the cop moustache lately.

I've honestly thought about getting a pair myself. Just not sure, though...especially being SoCal based.
