Here's some snaps from my first trip on the Lear 45! I'm working as a full time contract co-pilot for the next month. So far have flown 4 legs in the past 2 days with 2 more today. Enjoy!

>Sweet!!! nice pictures. waht year is that? looks like 2000ish.. It's a 2001 model I think. It's in immaculate condition, not a drip of grease or grime anywhere, it's spotless inside and out. The captain I'm flying with (also a contract pilot) has flown many LR-45s in Georgia and he said this is one of the nicest ones he has flown, not just in appearance but it is also very mechanically sound and it just well.. flies like its supposed to. >So what did you do before you got the lear gig? I'm doing an internship with FlightSafety at the Atlanta simulator center. I fly co-pilot in the simulators for clients and do office work when I'm not in the simulator. When clients need pilots they often call up the center asking for referrals, and fortunately my name was at the top of the co-pilot list. So kudos to the LR-45 program manger for recommending me. Also I have close to 200hrs in the LR-45 simulator and a total of 450hrs sim time including various other simulators. >Nice ride, is there a chance to go full time? Possibly, as far as I know they have no full time co-pilot and the full time captain, who is on medical leave for a month, is supposed to retire in a year or two so who knows. I seemed to have gotten my foot in the door cause I've already been told of a possible full time LR-31 co-pilot position in the hanger next door, and I might be doing a 1 day trip on another LR-45 and possibly a Citation. >More importantly, how can I get a gig like that? It's all about who you know in corporate aviation. Get some advanced training, become a good co-pilot and hang out with people who fly or know people who fly corporate aircraft. And here's some in-flight photos, enjoy.

"More importantly, how can I get a gig like that?" Be nice to everyone you meet..... I fell into my corporate gig by being nice to the line guy that fuels my Cessa 152, and he walked in my resume to the comany owner- now i'm flying in Cessna Conquests, Citations, and King Airs |

ummm ok The line guy (a ramp supervisor of a large FBO) i know doesnt have a interest in becoming a working pilot-maybe in a few years he will persue a private pilot certificate, but beyond that he doesnt want to deal with anything more, he has a family and a local job that works with what he wants in life. He enjoys helping out others in persuit of an aviation job, if they are not #######s to him or other people working on ramp. Word travels fast if your a mean person, running around the FBO, pissed off at everyone kind of attitude, dont expect any help with your career or job searching if you are one of these people. But if your polite, calm, and nice to everyone you meet- good things can come from it-hence a gig that you didnt know existed. |
