Were you solo ? THat's crazy pre-ppl. The FBo where I trained will not dispatch the planes with that much wind.

The winds were 180 at 24G30, straight up the runway is no big deal. I would have my PPL today but the DE decided to cancel due to winds today. I have to wait until next wednesday now. In the meantime I have 41.7 hours and can easily pass the PPL checkride according to my Instructor. I am pretty much able to solo anytime I want, just have to get the sign off if its cross contry.

In fact my CFI and I were having a Short Field contest today, and stopping the plane on the numbers. Good practice, it helps you learn what the plane and yourself are capable of.

I didn't think so but I was looking at the pics and thought maybe they were in the same flight or whatever. Anyhow....The winds can be good. I had strog winds right down the rw on checkride day. Sortfield ldg was easy as pie.

They were from Today, my CFI took the pics on the ground before hopping in the plane. I did a simulated checkride today, and was told I would have passed easy, but the DE wanted to do it on a calmer day. I understand completely. Weather tommorow is gonna be worse. 25-30 Gusting to 40...woo hooo!!!!! Hail, and Tornadoes also. Gotta love it.

Only white shirt I had, so I wore it solo day.

Had you been having a problem coming in low? "Red on red your dead!" (on the shirt) Cool that you got your solo done.

Yeah, Low and slow when I got started, tends to make the CFI restless.

I found $2000 cash in the bathroom just sitting on top of the tiolet dispenser at the Barbary Coast one time, no one claimed it so it was all mine.

Went to Vegas on my honeymoon and stayed next door at the Flamingo, but I did most of my Gambling at Barbary Coast. I spilled coffee on myself while gambling and they gave me that shirt, to hold me over until I walked next door and changed. Good people there. I am not big on the strip, so I prefer the smaller older places like Barbary Coast. I won $5400.00 while there also.

I was always the opposite, high and fast. I still prefer higher than average final approaches with steeper than average descent angles, if I have no passengers or I'm not trying to impress anyone, especially around here at PDK.

Yeah lol, and a bit scared I bet. I think being low and slow is much worse than being high and fast. I think when I start instructing airspeed will be one of my pet peeves lol, especially on approach and climbout. I think all my CFIs have had them, and I think it may be their greatest aviation fear. Maybe the "sub-CFI" I had the other day might most fear going of the side of the runways which is why he siad, "Staying on the centerline the whole times is one of my pet peeves." Mine would be stalling low to the ground, where one may not have time to recover.

lol but I like the shirt. I learned "red over red, and you'll bump your head" but dead works to lol. Great shirt. I love it. I just can imagine what people are thinking when they read it. Probaly confused. "Why does red mean dead?" I can't wait to solo lol. I think it is about time. My CFI was very silent today and said it had clicked. She said I was doing very well.

My CFI has one pet peeve, that is hold the nose off even after touchdown unless its short field. He doesn't like it if you drop the nose right away after touchdown. Otherwise, he just likes throwing as many distractions, emergency scenarios, unusual attitudes and that sort of thing at you as possible. He will sabotage the plane for you to find during preflight, pull your engine at any given time, open the window, mess with your nav/com. Ask dozens of questions about different places on the sectional, and so on. Its good practice, it keeps you on your toes and always thinking.
