No, we aren't breaking scope. Airways just painted the 2nd of the heratige planes. It's a 319 and as best I can tell they gave it a new registration ending in PS. Cute. Picture at a.net |

That is cool, I saw somewhere that there will be like 4 or 5 old school schemes in the fleet. That is one, the America West scheme is another and I forget the rest. Love the smile! |

4 "Heritage" planes. There is already one in a hybrid America West theme (with US Airways tiles). The other two themes will be on former East metal (probably 320s) and will include a Piedmont and an Allehgany "Flying Wedge". They should be out in the next few months. |

Ahhh yeah that's it.... I just clicked on their website to see what is new there at usair.com. You would think if they are spending all this money to paint these 4 planes in special colors, they would have something on there. Instead I look around and all the computer simulated photos of their planes that they do have are of the old paint scheme. What is the point of changing schemes and special colors if you aren't showing it off on your website? I know the average person doesn't really care but if that is so, then why spend this money for all the new paint? Seems like they could give it to employees to boost morale or something instead? |

There are bringing the smilies back! I remember seeing the smilies on 767s and 777s years back, right of the highway at the Boeing factory. Nice new livery anyway!

"Dear Mr. Douglas Parker: You have a number of brewing labor issues amongst your pilot group revolving around the merger of the pilot groups and a melee about to explode in the maintenance shops. You are our home town airline here in Phoenix, please refocus your efforts on addressing those issues rather than cutesy retro aircraft liveries. Thanks, Best Wishes, Doug Taylor"

Perfect Doug. This is a waste of money. Pay your employees instead of changing paint...The cost to paint one 319 could pay 5 salaries. I will always fly Airways and no one else, but this is pitiful. All the airlines that US Airways bought have been turned into regionals! I doubt former employees want it rubbed back in their face...but its just me.

it was probably due for repaint anyhow...thus not costing anymore than repainting it in the new USAirways colors

The biggest single problem facing the "new" Airways in the integration of culture. That is something that the "old" Airways did a very poor job of when they merged with Allehgany and Piedmont. Hopefully it will go better this time around. As silly as it sounds, there is a lot of pride attached to the former companies, and a livery representing that goes a long way. As far as painting them... The one flying around in the AWA scheme was factory new so it needed paint either way. The 319 that got the PSA scheme was coming out of a C Check. I'm not sure about the other two.

They are trying to create a public image of a company that has been around a long time and is made up of many good former companies. I think its a good idea.
