There was a news report on tv that the soldiers in Iraq of course don't have the luxury of showering daily and, in fact, sometimes go through several days without being around any running water. So a lot of families have been sending boxes of wet ones, so the soldiers can clean their hands before they eat and also stay cool. I guess that has been one of the most popular items.

Other than that, what about some Seinfield episodes, like the SOUP NAZI show! Now that's better than Friends!

I've got cosmo on the list for the girl... and i'm sure i'll get her some other magazine or something...

baby wipes is on the list with many explamation points!

now - we're not sure on the xbox at all, we might get them a gameboy advance with a few games or what not - does anyone have any of those and do you think that would be more worthwile as a portable type gift?

also - the omaha steaks are expensive...at least a good $160 for 12... would it be better to get something more fun that would last longer than the steaks or go with the steaks?

IMO Omaha steaks are over priced, and I'd much rather have something from the grocery store anyway (easy to say for me here at home )

At their cost I would use the funds for something else.

Seinfeld is faaar superior to Friends, but I don't think its out on DVD (yet).

As for the steaks- they might be pricey, but I bet the guys would appreciate them. From past posts, it sounds like MikeD is big into steaks ("cooked with a flashlight" lol).

You're kidding right? Seinfeld was the most over-hyped, NOT funny "sitcom" that spent WAY too many years on the tube.

Jerry Seinfeld is not a funny man. His supporting actors carried the show. They went way too far out of their way to come up with little cute catch phrases.

Name one other sitcom where the main character continuously smiles when delivering his/her lines, like "do you get it???".

Seinfeld - bah!

Just one man's opinion.. your milage may vary... and obviously does.

I said it was far superior to Friends...which it is.

Its all relative, R2F. In the grand scheme of things, they both suck!

So I'm curious...

You both say that Friends and Seinfeld suck.

I will not argue this point.

But I'm curious to hear what, in your opinions, does not suck?

Naunga:

I never said that Friends sucks - I just said that I could live with ESF's opinion that it sucks.

I'm not going to jump on the "Friends Sucks" bandwaggon that exists here. I happen to enjoy it. It's mindless and entertaining... but, apparently, it offended quite a few prominant posters on this site at some point and to this day, they experience some sort of trauma.

Which sitcoms don't suck? IMHO - The Family Guy. The Simpsons. (not really "sitcoms" are they? ) Scrubs, Frasier, Cheers.... that kind of thing.

Scrubs (First season is/was the strongest), Monk, Reno 911, Daily Show ... not too many decent sitcoms - most of what I was going to list are Dramas that occassionaly crack a good joke or too. Go figure.

Ah, I guess I just misread the post.

I will say that Friends lately has sucked. The show kinda jumped the shark when Monica and Chandler got married. 'Cause see at that point it became "4 Friends and the married couple they're friends with too". But anyhow.

I have to say I agree with you about the Family Guy and Simpsons, but I would add Futurerama as well.

Yeah, I don't mind some of the older seasons, but lately they have sucked. They should have ended the season last year.

I love Scrubs, I think that show is hilarious (not too realisitic, but neither are any of the others).

I read somewhere on here that you were going to send Playboy over to MikeD. Not that I think its a bad idea, but today I read in the NY Times about a solider who was charged with "adultery and possesion of pornographic material." I wasn't aware that soldiers couldnt be in posession of this stuff, but I'd probably check to see if it's ok. I wouldnt want Mike to get in trouble.
