| Big Chief's Woman | Well, we want to run an OCP again this year.. the problem is -> we don't know anyone that's over there right now from the site. We thought a couple of people would be over in that area but since then, they've been reassigned or what not. we'd rather sponsor someone from the site that has to be over there for the holidays, but since we don't have anyone, we thought we'd put the question up to you folks. So, we're going to put the question out to you. Do you know anyone of a personal nature (family member, friend etc) that is in the Military over in Iraq and will be there for the xmas season that could really use some cheering up? - Or - we've been thinking about donating to a particular charity within the US (no, not individuals, CFI's or what not, but actual charities)... is there a charity you would like to sponsor? Please keep in mind that in order for us to send overseas, we must have the full name, rank and actual address (not an APO address since it takes forever to mail anything APO). We really enjoyed the outcome of the event last year (who knows, someone may still be playing with that Xbox today!).. so let's see what we can do this year! there's no competition to repeat the same $$ amount last year - at all!! what are you IMO's? |

| I like the idea of donating to charity, as we do not have any users (that we know of) over in Iraq. If we are donating money, my suggestion for a charity is the Canine Companions for Independence ( http://www.cci.org ). They train dogs to help handicapped people; they can open/close fridges, doors, pick up dropped things, pull the wheel chair, get help in an emergency, as well as a variety of tailored tasks for their owner. They also provide people with love, companionship, purpose, effection, and security. They also break down barriers, and wheelchair bound people get many more people approaching them to talk. These dogs do so much for these people, it is incredible. |

| Old Skool | A friend of mine from High School is over there as we speak. http://www.dailytargum.com/news/2004...q-796318.shtml If you want to send it to an individual unit, I am sure his men would appreciate it. A charity is an excellent idea as well. |

| [ QUOTE ] C650Capt is out there right now [/ QUOTE ] I'm out there more than you'd realize ... ![]() Actually I'm based in Kuwait, My National Guard Unit is flying in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom (Afghanistan). As of now we are not flying into Iraq, the Army Reserve Unit has that mission, but we are operating from Kuwait covering the Persian Pennisula and down and around to Afghanistan ( to avoid Iran ) and to Djibouti, Africa (pronounced jaBooty ... let the jokes begin ...) and many other very interesting places. One of the other JCrs who was suppose to be here stood me up ... thanks sickbird ... It's still not to late to join me ... just stop by your local recruiter for directions. ![]() All is well Jim |
