Default Event music?

I'm new to the site, but I just wanted to offer my musical services for your event if you don't already have it. I'm a professional jazz trombonist in town and could easily put together a quartet to play some jazz/cocktail music for you all. Or if you'd like, I can put together something more upbeat. Just let me know and we can talk about it.

Also, I would love to just come to this event to meet pilots. I've never been to an event like this, and it would be fun for a pilot wannabe like me to just meet some of you and pick your brains. Either way, I look forward to it!

I think me and SeanD were hoping to put together a heavy metal super group of pilots.

I think we could put both ensembles together and do a nice spread of Slayer and Benny Goodman tunes.

Whatever you do, don't play the boarding music we use at Chautauqua. You'll have a riot on your hands.

Maybe we should make our own music - bring in Guitar Hero, or Rock Band.

Hey Dale, that would be cool, having a trumpet and a trombone together....sounds like a good jam!

Don't worry...I'd make sure we left our Benny Goodman repertoire at home. In a toilet, preferably. So it can float among its brethren.

Sweet...there's a trumpet player on the boards. All we need now is drums, bass, and piano and we'll have ourselves a gig.

I should also mention that if jazz wasn't the music of choice for the event, my buddy is a DJ and would probably be willing to help out at a discount rate if it was going to a good cause. Just let me know.

are a bunch of pilots even a good cause?! haha

Jazz would be WAY cool to have in house...we've tried to get Dale and his big band out before...but honestly, i'd rather have you guys out mingling with everyone than playing for us. that is the main reason you're there.

it might be more fun to have you and your buds come play for an audience rather than as mingle music....

If your buddy isn't into flying, he might be better for spinning the tunes because then we're not interrupting his opportunity to network kwim?

it'd be easy to add a dance floor too if people wanted to do that (since we're using meeting rooms this time around). altho not sure how many would dance.....mostly guys and all! haha

in years past, we've just used an ipod for background tunes since nobody really listens to it.

Well, it's really up to you guys. I, personally, would be there to meet some pilots. I might bring the horn and jam (as any musicians here would be welcome to, as well), but not much outside of that. My non-aviation musician friends would still be willing to play some trio jazz music for the event, though. Otherwise, my DJ friend does not have an interest in piloting that I'm aware of, so that might be a favorable option, as well. Just let me know what you need, if anything, and I'll help get it together for you all.

I know Kristie mentioned Rock Band as a "team building" thing once. Rock Band + booze = FUNNY AS HELL.

I would be willing to help out if needed. But I've got the same problem as Kell - transporting a 50 lb head and a bulky cab.

Are you talking about the gear? Sorry - that was just totally unavoidable.
