possible...we've heard good things about the place and even though it's off the strip, it'd obviously be a cheaper venue.

My only fear with staying away from the strip is it may require people to utilize cars to get back and forth between their hotel and the Palms. Which opens up the possibility for drinking and driving. You can avoid it by cabbing but that can get pretty expensive.

Nah, the cab fare from the Strip was about $15 with tip. And Ghostbar is so damn cool. Yes, there's a $20 cover for guys but so what, it's worth it. That $20 also gets you access to all the other bars there. Rain was closed when we went but the Playboy Club was open. Ghostbar was cool. The Playboy Club was not as impressive. It was like they were trying too hard to be cool while Ghostbar just was.

The rooms are awesome. You know you can rent out the Real World suite for events? I went to a friends bday party there and it was a lot of fun.

The Palms is the hot spot of the moment, popular with the trendy young crowd for the last couple of years, by next year, it may be yesterday's news.

trendy hotspot may then mean we won't be able to get cheap meeting or party space then ![]() We're also contemplating the Monte Carlo again and Excalibur...Any others ya'll think we should put on the list?

| Old Skool | I was going to mention the PH too. Though the ex-Aladdin rooms were light years away from what they had at the Bellagio.

I vote for Monte Carlo. Decent room rates, they worked with us on dropping the rates for our group rate and had nice rooms. There are plenty of restraunts and gambling. It's close to 9FI (NYNY) and the MGM and monrail. The Excalliber looked thrashed when we went over there on Monday night. With good rates, it gives the opportunity for attendees to stay at the same location as the event and everyonce can be in a centralized location, though some of us who come in on Saturday would have to stay at a different location due to rates for Saturday. Monte Carlo allowed us to check in a little around 1pm after we transfered down from the Sahara.

I vote to stay again at the Monte Carlo. They were quite accommodating and willing to work with us when the rates dropped.

Next year we will stay wherever the main gang is. I was not incredibly impressed with the Excalibur and also mentioned that by the time we all got our final rates, it was only a $30-$40 cheaper than the Monte. I like the idea of having a big main event in one those trendy Palms tower suites though. If you double attendance again next year, the Bellagio room we had would be too small I would think. |

I say we have the main event at The Greek Isle next year! ![]() If it's good enough for Delta then it's good enough for us. That was, of course, ![]() The Monte seemed a good bet. We got the good room rates, it is fairly central, and the rooms were pretty decent. Even though distances were short the cab fare could start to become @ss kickers after a few rides back and forth, that's why I rented a car for this trip.

I'd also veto the excalibur, although you could probably get a good deal there. Basically what my roommate said (Loadmaster) on the place, old, dingy, rundown, and a bed that smelled like you know what (that one was his ). I personally would have spent another 30 bucks to stay at the Monte Carlo. From what I saw of the MC it seemed very nice. If the MC had a big enough suite, I would go for that.

The suites at the Monte Carlo were pretty nice. There was only one bed but they brought a rolling bed in and the couch was just fine. You could sleep four in there just fine and the rate was pretty good!

Bobduck's room had two queen beds at the Monte....and he got two REALLY good rates for Sunday & Monday night (somewhere in the $70-$80 range). I checked The Palms website and they advertise their "regular room" rate to be $265/night. My vote would be the Monte. . |

yea.. i'd have to see what kind of group rates we could get....if everyone wanted to try doing that again... but in all reality, for the effort i put into group rates, most people stayed off site since only 10-15 rooms were booked under the group code. so, that's a lot of work for me with little positive effect.
