| Re: Iowa I will be living near Ames, Iowa just north of Des Monies. I will have my Comm/Multi-Inst. and hopefully my CFI at least. I would take anything I could get. I will not be there for a little over a year due to my current deployment to the Iraq desert again, tour #3! but once I am back I will be moving to Florida to get the rest of my ratings. I have my private already so its getting the rest for a job flying. I just want to know whats out there and just get to know people.

I learned to fly there (in fact, they still have all of the same aircraft I flew), and it is a great company and airport. There is another flight school just south of Ankeny, though it is a smaller, private strip and their aircraft are not as nice as Exec 1's aircraft. I have flown into Ames many times on charters, business, and pleasure and just never saw much flight training.
You could also look up at Webster City ( http://www.stormflyingservice.com/). They are a pretty solid operation as well.

| Re: Iowa Why the hell would anyone want to move to IOWA?
My wife is from Iowa and went to school in Ames (Iowa St) so I can make fun--I married into a family of Iowegians and have earned that right of passage :-)
I know that added no value to your initial post, so I'll leave now.

| Re: Iowa My wife is from DeWitt, up near the Quad Cities--graduated ISU in 2000. Her brother-in-law did some flying out of the airport in Ankeny where he lives (got his PPL), but hasn't flown in quite a while so any info from him may be a bit outdated. I'll ask my wife if she recognizes Liming.
Oh...thanks for your service bud and good luck with your trip back across the pond. I'll be heading back at the end of this year, but to the UAE instead--not quite the same as what you have to deal with.

| Re: Iowa I'm from Ankeny, there aren't many of us on JC that live in Iowa.
Flying around here slows down over winter so it's very hard to instruct right now but it does pick up a lot during summer.
There's Todd's Flying Service just north of Ankeny, they only have a PT instructor right now so maybe you could get in as FT? Mostly an ag business but they do operate a 152.
Not sure what's in Ames, never really checked it out!
