| Hi, I've been reading this excellent website for a while now, and finally decided to post. I work in NYC, but I live in Miami. I've got my PPL, and I'm looking towards my IFR/Multi/Commercial now. Problem is, I can't seem to find schools with time-building students in the NYC area, so I have to do all my flying over breaks, such as thanksgiving and Christmas . That's pretty slow progress. I have a couple of questions for anyone who can help:Are there any flight schools in the NYC area that can be recommended for IFR or multi training? I'm looking for some place that gives quality training, with good instructors and reliable airplanes. Are there any places I can look for other pilots wanting to build time? I called some schools in NY and NJ, but they told me that they didn't really have students looking to build time. Not really surprising, since NY isn't really known for flight training. Is there anybody in South Florida looking to build single engine time between Christmas and New Years? Thanks very much to anyone who can give any help advice! Apologies if this isn't the best place for this post. Mods, please move it as you see fit ![]() |

hey right now i am a current CFI/II in the NY area, and i must say it not easy to time build here in NY, getting a full week without low clouds and rain is hard to come by in NY? there are few school in Westchester, Farmingdale and Islip where you can rent aircraft to time build, but they may be a little pricey. If i were you i would try and get a ticket to florida and fly for a week or two down there if your able to

| Thanks Carnival. I'll look into those areas a bit more. I once had opportunity to have fun with a Fokker once..."Yeah we've got that little Fokker in sight. We're number 2 to him" ![]() |
