| Looking for a CFI in the Pittsburgh area preferably with access to a plane. I'm trying to get some of you "indie instructor" guys' rates. Would like to finish PPL by Spring if possible. |

| Which airport in the area are you looking to train out of? I do my training at KAGC, and know of many flight schools at AGC and other airports, but do not know of many freelance CFIs (if thats what you are looking for). If you have any questions lemme know and I'll be glad to help. |

| I don't really know of any freelance CFI's around, but I'm training over at PFTC. Have you checked it out? PM me if you want or need any information. |

| I was wonderin about how all that worked out learning out of CAP aircraft. Is it easy to find instructors there? Do alot of people do it? About how much does it cost per lesson? In high school I joined CAP hoping to do all that but never got the chance to. |

| It fluctuates, but its basically the bare cost per hour, right now about $65/hour or so. I've worked with some great instuctors, but most of them have other commitments (job, family, etc) because they are volunteers. Thus, it takes some time to get where you're going in terms of hours etc. |

Given the checkout requirements for even the lowest CAP pilot rating (Transport pilot) I can't see them ever allowing a student solo. I do know that CAP flight instructors cannot charge for their time and therefore most choose to focus on training related to the CAP mission such as proficiency, IPC's, Mission Pilot training and "Form 5" checkride prep, rather than training for FAA ratings. | |

| Newbie | I am a CFI in the Pittsburgh area. I work for a flight school in Wheeling, but I would be able to meet you at AGC if you were still in need of a flight instructor. Let me know.
