| Hello everyone, I am working on my CFI in Atlanta, but my current instructor thinks I may not be cut out to instruct. Anyone have any ideas for a pilot with 442 TT, 84 instrument, 56 night, 113 cross country, and 26 multi (not rated, aircraft was sold before checkride was taken). Any help is greatly appreciated. |

| Old Skool | Why does your instructor think you can't instruct, and more importantly, do you agree with him on those reasons? With times like that you could probably banner tow and maybe ferry aircraft if you found someone who would let you. As far as stuff in ATL? No idea. I'm sure somebody here can suggest something though. |

| Newbie | First of all, get a second opinion. Secondly, what's more important is if YOU think you could instruct. I instruct in the Atlanta area and have found there are alot of opportunities around here. Instructing is not only a good way to build hours but your experience level grows exponentially. Most to-be instructors are apprehensive about the responsibility that comes along with it. (Not to mention the pay and lifestyle.) Once you start instructing, you find that it can actually be kind of fun. Don't give up on it yet. Look into it a little more. Unless you find someone willing to let you sit right or left seat in their twin and pay you for it with those hours, (possible but not likely) Instructing is still the way to go to build those hours. |

| Thanks everyone, definitely looking at at least a second opinion from another instructor, I agree I have trouble expressing myself during the simulated training, but that may just take time. I am a good pilot and know that, so either option is good to me. |
