| After a great CFI gig I had lined up in Iowa for this summer fell through a few weeks ago (long story), I got hired last night at a flight school in Monroe, WA. That's on the north side of Seattle, about 5 miles away from Snohomish. It looks like an even better gig than the one in Iowa. Great pay, free tailwheel training in a J-3 cub, then a whole bunch of instructing in the J-3, a C-152, and a C-170. The only thing is, this is only a short term job, 4-6 weeks, to cover for another instructor who will be out of town on an extended leave. Anyhow, I need a place to live for this short term job. The guaranteed dates are June 9 to July 17, with the possibility of staying a few weeks longer. I'm looking for a 1 bedroom or studio apartment, room for rent, bigger apartment with roommates, or whatever. I'm not picky. I don't smoke, drink, party, or have pets. I consider myself easy to get along with. When it comes to rent, the cheaper the better. I've placed want ads on Craigslist.org and gotten one response already, but I'd like to keep looking at as many options as possible. Can anyone hook me up with something in the Monroe/Snohomish area? |

| I sold a Cherokee to First Air, don't know if they still have it or not. It's a hairy little airport landing to the west. Just don't be afraid to get down low over the fairgrounds. I about ran a Musketeer off the end landing to the west, once. |

| How the %$?@ did you find a job in Monroe, Wa? I grew up in Lynnwood, not too far to the West, and I know the area pretty well. Don't have any leads on apartments but it should be easy to find a room to rent thru Craigslist or a local paper (The Herald, Seattle Times). Definitely a small-town operation out there, but the whole area is growing quickly. When did they get a Cub?? I learned to fly Cubs out at Sultan, a little 1900' grass strip just about 5 miles East of Monroe. We would hop out to Monroe to practicle wheel landings on pavement. It's a beautiful area to fly and live. You're almost on the edge of the mountains there. BTW, I may have a job offer myself in Wenatchee. I'll drop by and say Hi when I drive thru Monroe over Highway 2 to visit my family!

| Oh, yeah - gotta agree with Don on the approach to the West. You're right over the Monroe Fairgrounds on short final, and there's some powerlines too. Sorta got to 'chop and drop'

But anyhow, stop by and say hello if you come through Monroe! It's always cool to meet JC members in person. | ||

| Look what I found, taken about 4 years ago from a 1959-model C-172, high on approach but dropping like a rock because of the 40 degrees of flaps that are hangin' out.

| "I may have a job offer myself in Wenatchee" Wenatchee, I grew up in Wenatchee. The DO/CP at Executive Flight was one of my first CFI's, that was Don H. I used to pump gas at what later became Ex Flight. Back then, the only turbine they had was an old 680W. I used to sit in that thing and think how cool it would be to get paid to fly something like that. Oh man, I could tell you stories... Now I'm Yoda. |

| That overrun at the west end wasn't there back in the day. Not a bad idea. I think I was about as high as in your pic, landing to the west, but it was in a Mouse. That plane was a 63 Beech Musketeer that actually had a mouse painted on the tail. I sold it to a Judge and have seen it parked at Auburn a few times. In some ways, that was the best plane I ever owned. |

Actually, I think it's a fuel truck. Not a good place to park it!
