| I'll be in Prescott AZ Mon the 6th - Thu the 9th if any locals want to "network". I'm planning on doing a day trip up to Grand Canyon on Tue. if any one wants to go hiking. Jim

| Senior Member | We need our bosses to coordinate better. While on a trip to SDL we went up to the GC and hiked around yesterday...pretty cool! |

| Senior Member | We just stayed on the rim...didn't do any "real hiking". The guy I went with was adventurous enough to go to the canyon, but not anywhere near adventurous enough to do any actual hiking...still very cool overall. |

| When I was there a few years back we really didn't have much time to explore, but Bright Angel Trail was pretty good. Popular (maybe overly so), but once you get far enough down to be away from the masses it gets down right peaceful. South Kaibab always intrigued me, and might be worth a wander. Got to watch the weather pretty close this time of year, though. Not a place you want to get caught out in a winter storm from what I've heard. Just remember, what goes down must come back up. ![]()

| I did the South Kaibab trail down to skeleton point yesterday ... absolutely awesome. The weather was perfect and the views were incredible. The trip down took about 2.5 hrs (lots of photo taking) and the climb out took about 3.5 hrs. The general consensed is that the South Kaibab trail offers better sight seeing than the Bright Angel trail. Jim

| The climbing uphill is what will get the thighs. I was remembering a long, fast (striding, not running) downhill I did in the Alps one time - that's what'll give the shins fits. BTW, I'm jealous. ![]()
