Ironically if the impossible did arrive you wouldn't afford to have the internet so you wouldn't have to deal with reading this. There now the impossible sounds a little better.

See that's the beauty of public libraries. Free pc/internet access.

Ah, the Logan's Run situation. The world around is in crumbles, but the library in DC still remains standing.....and full of cats.

I'm sure if I stated a position that John wouldn't approve of he would have corrected me. Yet, he did not do such a thing. Nevertheless, the possibility for me to miss something in my reading is possible. What exactly did I miss?

Minitour, Kell and Pprag want to scab. Stated that if they could go to Fantasy Island, they would ask Mr. Roark to transport them back to 1983 so they could cross the line at CAL. Velo's head is about to explode. Jtrain is seriously thinking of arming himself.

Those are the Cliff's notes.

That's a little stretch. Was McDonald's around in 1983? I had just emerged from the womb, so I'm a little fuzzy on details.

"Want" is a pretty strong word. I wouldn't say I "want" to scab. I'm just saying that if it's the absolute last resort in a lifestyle apocalypse, I wouldn't look at my wife and say "So, how about some dust for dinner?"

The point I was trying to drive home is saying you'll "never" cross a picket line has a lot of variables in it. Obviously, that point was lost somewhere in the translation. John has a lot of principles, and I'm pretty sure he would stick to it. But to say "never" limits you. Velo, well, I'm pretty sure he'd never cross a picket line. He'd probably turn to a life of crime before doing so. Break the law or cross a picket line? I think we're well aware of which he considers the worse of two evils.

Hopefully, none of us will ever by faced with the hypotheticals we're discussing.

Wasn't really a question about the threads overall context. I figured Mini was telling me about the two words reading comprehension because I missed something in his or Jtrain's post, not within the whole thread.

You guys are getting extreme with the scenarios here. Why not go work at McDonald's or Walmart or anywhere else for that matter? Yeah, the job market is terrible right now, but surely there are other things you can do to feed your family.

To be honest, I'm surprised most of us don't have part-time second jobs outside of this industry. On first year pay I came close to applying at the supermarket down the street.

Good Night, sleep tight, don't let the bed bugs bite.

SIUAv8r,

Sad fact of the matter is that some actually consider this to be a full time profession and career. Not a part-time hobby we do for just a little bit of money. Professional pilots (or professional anything for that matter) should not need to work a part-time job to supplement their full time career's income.

I would rip the horn off a unicorn and stab the heart of a puppy to bring instant salvation to my family in time of need.

However, I cannot. It says in Section 992 of the ALPA Admin Manual that sacrificing a puppy is not permitted. In Section 1002 it says using a Unicorn is not a proper tool for "negotiation," except when dealing with GoJets.

See how silly that sounds? Geez.

You guys can lampoon me all you want. And all ridiculous scenarios aside, here's the bottom line:

Some people here have actually said they would cross a picket line. To a couple of us, that kind of "thinking" is incomprehensible. Its kind of like being a "little" pregnant. Either you are or you aren't. Either you will or you won't.

JTrain and I won't. Some of you will. Once you've justified that kind of immoral action to yourself, its a very small step to actually do it. That mental justification is the first step down a very slippery slope.

Ever read "The Scarlet Letter"? Believe me, Hester Prynne's suffering doesn't come close to what you'll experience.

I don't think that it is fair to equate crossing a picket line with starting a criminal career. It is not fair to the criminals.
