I am in the same boat, I have been on furlough for 5 months now. I am fortunate that I can collect on my other job I had before and go to school. If you at least fly every now and then you will be fine. Just keep your instrument currency and review your calls and flows every now and then. By all means do not go to GO Blows!

You misread what I said. I was not talking about getting hired on with an airline, but rather getting hired in "the real world" when all you have done for relevant work experience is fly an airplane.

Short term gain? Oh, you mean like the Mesa guys did back when Freedom was held over their heads? That's called "selling out." Maybe we should settle for that crap sandwich contract they've been offering us over here at Pinnacle for more Delta flying. Ya know, short term pain for a long term gain.

After this merger I'm hearing we may have to copy our approved jumpseater list to Delta's. Personally I like the current agreement where I get to jump on gojets and they can't on ours. *shrug*

I think its hilarious how many guys we have applying here and working here who are Go-jet apologists. Who knows, maybe this time next month they'll finally be able to tell me "see, we aren't anti go-jets!" Personally I hope to continue denying their boarding. Union guys told us the only way Go-jets is going to appear on our list is if they get something important in return. That's how much respect we have for go-jets around here, they are bargaining chips.

Aloft,

have you ever had a GoJet pilot try to jumpseat on your airplane? Probably not. Most pilots will just hand you their badge with the jumpseat request form or show it to you right away when entering the cockpit to ask for a ride. GoJet pilots, no, they keep it hidden away till you ask for it, and you can see the anxiety in their eyes.

Oh yeah, how can I forget the time a GJ pilot jumpseated on one of my flights WITHOUT asking? I found him on the jetbridge waiting for his carry-on luggage to be brought up (my flight attendant got a good talking to after that flight for not making him check in).

Hehe. I can attest to that. I thought he was a colgan guy and was having a good coversation with him. Then came time for the old "where do you work? Colgan?" "no i'm united express *nearly whisper* Gojets". I just laughed told him to find another ride.

Dick thing to do? Maybe. But its against company regs to carry a Gojet'er unless he's buying a ticket.

So does Colgan and other airlines/departments. And the way out of the way building is about 5 minutes away.

What airline is flying around the J31s and Saberliners today?

The reason Colgan is there is because our instructor has his office there as he is a maintenance instructor teaching our ground school. The GoJet instructor has to come over from the main building.

Oh really, and this guy can't drive 5 minutes to the other side of the airport and give the colgan class at the stl buidling?? Look I have no idea who goes to the buildings, look it up on the FS computer. The stl class rooms do not justify 6-10 guys gj has in class at a time. They're adding to the stl building anyways so pretty soon you're all going to be one happy family in stl do don't worry...

It's not the company, it's the pilots, they're flying TSA pilot's airplanes. The way the senioirty list was formed was partly TSA's fault but in the end the gj pilots are consciously flying TSA airplanes.

Are you arguing that GOjets is fine now because they have a union? If that is what your implying I'm afraid I just can't hop on that logic train. Nor will many others.

That's the issue, there are plenty of guys flying MarkAir airplanes, and they screwed plenty of people. Southwest doesn't seem to get that much flack. What's the point. These guys are just trying to make money like everybody else. How's it Joe Pilot's fault if he hires on with GJ at minimal hours. He may or may not even know?

No, I'm just saying, why is this an issue, this seems like a non issue when you compare it to the many other problems in the industry. I don't even know who the hell TSA is, plenty of Northwest guys may get screwed on the Delta seniority list, where's the outrage for that? What possibly makes this company worse than any other company out there. I've searched and read many a gojet thread, and this seems to be a non-issue. Plus, treating the pilots badly because they work there is ####ed up and wrong. They've got a union now, let the process do its job.

If you're really interested in a full Gojets rehash, go to the "Hot Topics" section and read all (yes, that's all) the Gojets threads there.

If this gets as nasty as the others did (and even MY tired, sick, coedine-impaired mind thinks it probably will) it'll get locked & archived same as the others.....

I wouldn't....which is why I haven't applied there. But it's not because I've been convinced by all the shallow arguments here that GoJet is inherently evil. Their owner/management, maybe--but by that argument, why would anyone want to work for TSA either? Or Mesa? It's not like HK is any worse than JO....

Nevertheless, you guys have drawn your picket line in the sand around Gojet, and I'm not about to cross it.

It's not even close to a picket line and all that does is further confuse those who are unfamiliar with the G7 issue.

I'm not that interested, but I'll re-read them, it seems strange to me, maybe I'm just naive. Anyhow, enjoy your delicious coedine, looks like I'm coming down with somethin too, and i'll need some of that cough syrup stuff to make it through the rest of my mid terms, I feel your pain.

i do not work for GJ but have many friends that do. They are there bc they were let go from ATA and such. Yes we can not let them J/S but that does not mean we have to treat them like poop. Thay are trying to support their family. is it really their fault??? I think not
