Default Gulfstream Training Academy

Greetings,

I have been reading a lot about this place and I was wondering if there was anyone out there that has been through the program and is willing to elaborate on it for me. I have read many negative things about this place on these forums. I know someone who is going to go through the program and I saw the contract...it does not say that you are paying for the 250 SIC time. I believe that the only loggable flight time that you pay for is when you use the level D sim and when you take the remainder of your 121 checkride. You are paying for your training though. Just like when you pay for your other entry level certificates. Comments welcome.....

Lemme say this...No one likes it, and with reading through other posts you'll understand why. However......The company/program gets people jobs. You may be looked down upon, but if you don't care, go there. I know pilots at a bunch of different companys that are GIA grads. The program may get you a job, but you have to ask yourself how your colleagues (sp?) will view you as you progress in your career

Cost of a B737 type rating (PIC): About $6000.

Cost for a B1900 type rating at Gulfstream (Limited to SIC): $28000

Yep, sure looks like you're only paying for training.

777, no matter how you rationalize it, the program Gulfstream set up allows them to profit from their flight crews. A 121 airline shouldn't be set up to rent out a window seat for 250 hours and then kick you out the door to make room for the next guy. It's a bad precedence to set.

There is a lot of history here about Gulfstream. Use the search function and skip over the flames. Every 10th post or so has some good info (all mine have good info...hehe) but if you take time to pick it out it will help you to understand why there is sooooo much criticism of Gulfstream.
