I was reading an article about the Navy F-14 Tomcat that crashed off the coast of California a couple days ago. In the article, it said that the F-14 has a flight crew of two: a pilot and radar-intercept officer. What are the responsibilities of a "radar-intercept officer"? Thank you! William |

[ QUOTE ] Watch Top Gun!!! HEHE [/ QUOTE ] Ohhh... I never knew that Goose was the Radar-Intercept Officer. After all these years, I was assuming he was the co-pilot. Bah! My assumptions... |

Actually, if you watch the movie closely, if you see "Grinch" on one of the F-14's, that's one of my good pals who is a DFW captain. Plus a lot of the guys that were playing sand volleyball were students of a captain I flew with a few months ago. They weren't even Tomcat pilots! |

And....If you see the scene where Tom Cruise first talks to the woman flight instructor in the bathroom, I've used that room before. It was a building in San Diego at the Recruit Training Center. That has since closed down and the entire "former" Recruit Training Center has now been converted into a private real estate developement, Liberty Station. Great Property and probably spendy.

[ QUOTE ] Make fun of Top Gun all you want........ .....but I better hear NO ONE bad-mouthing Iron Eagle 4 [/ QUOTE ] They made an Iron Eagle 4? [Looks up on IMDb...] Holy crap, they did... If you want to have a lot of fun, get a bunch of pilots and other military guys together and pop in "Iron Eagle." It's like the home version of MST3K. Had a good time in Korea one night watching that one. |

Copa, ya beat me to it. Iron Eagle Four? Great googly moogly... Louis Gossett must really need the money. Plus, I was suprised with such an "A list" cast as such, they didn't throw in one of the lesser known Baldwins like Steven. |
