| Drum roll please...... As of 4pm this afternoon, you can call me Mister instead of Petty Officer . The checklists are complete, the terminal leave papers are signed, and when I wake up tomorrow morning, there will be no muster...there will be no quarters....there will be no PT, no GMT, no CWT, CBT, nor any other trigraph I can think of....I will no longer be a Sailor in the World's Finest Nuclear Navy. It's been real, and it's been fun, as they say, but it ain't been real fun. I'll be starting training at ATP on the 19th of April, and hopefully this will be the start of a whole new life. Thanks, Navy, and thanks to everyone else who supports us. (Would you believe I'm getting out of the Navy after 6 years and I've never been on a ship? crazy, huh?) |

| No, I'm steadfastly avoiding the standard-issue ex-Navy (and Ex-Marine) goatee. Sounds funny, but just about everyone I know who got out grew one...just cause they could. I was thinking maybe I'd go get a job at Wendy's or something...and then just quit. Why? Because they can't send me to jail for it!! Oh, and I don't have to sign a non-disclosure agreement that's binding for life...that's nice too. I might put the earring back in for a little while, though, and there's no guarantee on the ex-Navy gut that everyone also seems to grow. |

Well, unless you consider the Lady Washington, but she's a tall ship and doesn't belong to the Navy. 2 years of A and C schools, then 3 years duty here, which I extended to separate here as well. If I had reenlisted, I would have a) not been able to pursue a flying career, b) had to stay in GA for another 3 years, and c) I would have been dirsup, which isn't exactly a family friendly way to be.. ![]() |
