Default Joining the ANG

Hello:
Some questions

1) I'm interested in joining the ANG to be a pilot, what is the process like...general info.

2) What chances does a civilian have...I am a college grad, 3.8 GPA, some flight experience, but no prior military service.

3) What training is there once you get it...i.e. do you go to boot camp, flight school, etc. How long until you're working in your unit?

I'm wondering the same thing. Not to hijack your thread but I have a couple hundred hours of 121 turbine SIC time and a 4 year degree with a 3.1 gpa or something like that.

Is it a good career opportunity or should I be looking elsewhere?

Start reading...

www.baseops.net

www.wantscheck.com

Read the sites and then search/read the forums for details. You both sound competitive as long as you're less than 28 or so (unless you've already taken the AFOQT/TBAS).

I wouldn't look at it as a career opportunity as much as service to your country because you really want to. I'm sure others will chime in who have experience as opposed to me just getting started, but if you're doing it to "get ahead" in the aviation industry, you'll probably be disappointed.

Also...it's a minimum 10 year commitment AFTER pilot training, which means you've already been "in" for 18-24 months.

Also, do a search on the other threads on this forum. This very question gets asked very frequently on here, and the same cast of characters are always posting the same answers every time.

You are both potentially able to get to the Guard if you're interested. There is lots of information out there, both on this site and others.

A little more fuel for the fire from another forum:
