Have fun Wesley! I thought field training was a one-time deal over the summer of your junior year. Did they change it?

And take care of your chlamydia before you head down there... (jk)

I may actually write you this time!

Good luck, brother.

Just remember that Field Training has absolutely nothing to do with the real active duty Air Force. Play the game for 4 weeks, then it will be all over.

Congrats, welcome back.

I thought FT was a royal pain, too. There were some good parts, though. Are they still doing Jet-O?

Thanks everyone for the support.
Raggio, you suck for no mail.
Hacker, They unfortunatly no longer do Jet-O. Instead we spent a week in Mississippi at Camp shelby learning how to drive Convoys and not get blown up by IED's.
Timmypig, as much as the other services like to give the usaf crap about being soft, Field Training is not easy at all. Anyone who has been there will say that. Every prior E I know says it is harder than basic training. It is alot harder when you are expected to lead rather than just follow. Anyone else who has been can elaborate.

Alpha

I'm Army and I concede that it can get pretty difficult. You're absolutely right about the privilege of command - when you're as tired, cold and hungry as your troops, but still have to plan and lead, that's when you find character!

Well done.

When I went to Field Training (2003, Lackland I) it was pretty easy, but we had more than one gomer pile in my flight that seemed to draw all the attention.

By the way, that convoy training sounds pretty cool, sounds like they actually do some real training now, but sucks about no Jet-O.

wow..sad to see what the usaf is turning into. no Jet-o? Man without that motivation it would have been even harder for me to have gone through field training. We are turning into the army more and more every day. While I agree that convoys etc are important..most folks in the AF IMO will never be a part of a convoy. Its all apart of this new mentality every airman is a warrior. Anyhow congrats on getting through! Like Hacker said..its nothing compared to the OPS usaf.

Convoy training huh? Do you do both of your parts of FT in the same summer? I was at Lackland II in 2002. Weeee so much fun! Can't say I would ever want to go back to Lackland again. Training bases suck!
