| Anyone else here applying to any Guard or Reserve AF units this year? I have about eight of my application packages sent out, one interview scheduled (C-130's) and hopefully more on the way! Just curious if anyone else out there is taking the long journey into military aviation... |

| Yeah, I'm sure. This has the HC STC, but I'm sure the extra 20/30HP is quite noticeable. I like the airplane, but the panel plastic has a bit to be desired. So............... anyone applying this year? ![]() |

| Good luck, M3. Stranger things have happened, I'm sure!! I'd love to get a C-5 slot here in Dayton, but they aren't doing much since they are over-staffed and may end up getting the C-17 sometime soon. (The chief pilot doesn't know yet...) Take care and good luck! |

| Anyone else applying this year? Frog? I currently have two interviews scheduled and a likely third. I'll report back after I have them. |

| Old Skool | BD, I'm always busy. I have not yet sent in a packet this year, but that is soon to change. I will not likely post if/when I get any interviews. Have you had any hits from the 121st?

| Negative on the 121st, but that's probably because I haven't sent it yet. I'll go visit them if I can get a contact as they're about a 90 min drive for me. Take care. |

| Old Skool | A dude I talked to said they've been taking 4 primaries/4 alternates for the last several years. That'd be a good bet for you.

| I've actually talked to ANG recruiters and will be making the trip down to talk to some AFR recruiters shortly. I still don't know what the best situation would be for myself. I'm sitting at 270/44, just graduated too. I wanna find out the differences between them before I make a choice on which I would sign with. Any info you have would be appreciated.

| I'm not sure what 270/44 means, but kudos for starting early! The differences I've found between ANG and AFRC are [1] when you get hired for ANG, you are "in" with the unit whereas the AFRC only "sponsors" you for the bi-annual board where your packet goes in front of a board who either OK's you or not. The unit sponsoring me has only had one person not make it for a low PCSM score, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. The [2] second difference is that the ANG is a state organization whereas the AFRC is federal only. The governor or the president can call up the ANG whereas only the president can call up the AFRC. The third difference is that ANG sends folks to AMS to get commissioned (six weeks) as opposed to the AFRC which sends them to OTS (12 weeks). As far as operational differences, I haven't been able to find any. Here's a thread I started about this on another web site. I guess there are a few pay differences, but I can't make heads or tails out of it anyway. http://www.flyingsquadron.com/forums...howtopic=13475 |

| Mansfield is coming up here in August. You could probably get on with that. Shoot me your email and I'll send you all the Ohio info I have that hasn't come yet (Columbus, Mansfield, Toledo, Pittsburgh). Good luck! I'll be up at YNG -- pretty close to you. |
