Nav to Pilot

How commmon is it for a Nav to get picked up for a UPT slot by another unit? I was hoping to go to UPT through my unit and continue flying there; however, we are slated to lose our Hercs, because of BRAC, around the time my Nav obligation is up. Age is not an issue.

Welcome to JC! but more importantly, sorry to hear about your situation with BRAC. Any idea when it will be finalized?

We have a Nav (former Nav) in our unit that just returned from pilot training as we have converted to the J model. A little different I know, because he stayed within the unit however, he did have to get an age waiver. So, I believe you are in a great position to be picked up by another unit, especially a 130 unit, to attend UPT: 1) you're an aviator on the Herk (you obviously have good taste) 2) you're an officer, (you must drink, which is madatory) and 3) you're not age critical (you're smart 'cause you've figured this all out at an early age).

Thanks Kato. If all goes as planned we they are supposed to be off our ramp 2010. I am a new Nav so my obligation will end around that time.
