| Old Skool | Katie Couric, while interviewing a Marine sniper, asked: "What do you feel when you shoot a terrorist?" The Marine shrugged and replied: "Recoil."

Best thing i have read all week. I love my job and I love when Marines stick it to reporters with stupid questions.

Proud to be an American...Damn right! That really has nothing to do with the so-called urban legend though.

Ha...you should know...although the rank structure is different than in the Army (I was attached to an Army unit the first few months of my deployment) Sergeants do not fill sandbags! As for patrols, i was hit in an IED attack my third month here so i was moved off of the patrols. I do miss them though because my current job is painfully boring, although informative since i found jetcareers.

In AFghanistan AND Iraq I filled more sandbags than I care to remember! I wasn't about to have an enlisted guy fill the sandbags for MY tent. No way. And you know I was kidding about the "get to work" thing, right? | |

Of course...I would know if you were serious...besides if you werent It will not be long until I EAS and I am not too proud to plan a XC to NY and beat an officers A$$!! (just kidding of course! You have became one of my preferred JC posters!) That is awesome that you filled sandbags yourself instead of the troops doing it for you. You would NEVER see that in the Marines though. I can not say why it is just the way it is i guess. Even as far as enlisted goes a SNCO will not even fill their own sandbags. A Sergeant is a superviser and it is thought of that you work hard to attain the rank of NCO so that you can lighten your physical workload. You pay the price as a junior Marine by doing well over your fare share of manual labor so it is more of a right of passage. I would never have a troop do something I would not do though EVER. If it is a time critical mission i will be more than happy to get my hands dirty to help the mission and be done sooner so we can go to bed! Things are different though because we live in trailers now as the tents have been replaced and this base is pretty well fortified since it has been manned for going on almost 5 years now. i edited this post because the way it was written before made me look like a cocky bastard, which i like to like to think i am not. It is hard to explain and for those who have not been in the military or specifically in the Marines it is hard to really know how things work. Not a knock on you chinook whatsoever because you can sympathise with me. Unless people are in the Army, they will never REALLY know how things work and why you do the things you do.

That's really interesting... in the Army we've lost a bit of that mentality, except maybe in the Infantry... but there's a huge pressure to "share the load." And CFIs aren't lowly! Technical experts, man! ![]() Well, maybe those CFIs are, but us CFI-Is are the schiz-nit! ![]() And if you come up here to kick my ass you'll be sorely dissapointed. I'd just buy you a beer and save you the Article 15. |

Definately a beer, i am down for that. Drinking is so much easier than fighting, besides it wouldnt make much sense to pick a fight with my only JC friend.

This is one of the best comeback lines of all time. It is a portion of National Public Radio (NPR) interview between a female broadcaster and US Marine Corps General Reinwald who was about to sponsor a Boy Scout Troop visiting his military installation. FEMALE INTERVIEWER: So, General Reinwald, what things are you going to teach these young boys when they visit your base? GENERAL REINWALD: We're going to teach them climbing, canoeing, archery, and shooting. FEMALE INTERVIEWER: Shooting! That's a bit irresponsible, isn't it? GENERAL REINWALD: I don't see why, they'll be properly supervised on the rifle range. FEMALE INTERVIEWER: Don't you admit that this is a terribly dangerous activity to be teaching children? GENERAL REINWALD: I don't see how. We will be teaching them proper rifle discipline before they even touch a firearm. FEMALE INTERVIEWER: But you're equipping them to become violent killers. GENERAL REINWALD: Well, Ma'am, you're equipped to be a prostitute, but you're not one, are you? The radio went silent and the interview ended. You gotta love the Marines! Thats is awsome!!! There is nothing wrong with teaching younger kids to use rifles, it actually helps them in the future. Nice though, thanks for posting.

Yea, well I read something about all truckers visit the lot lizzards and catch nasty bugs. Probably doesn't happen, but Hey Guess What? It's still funny.
