| Old Skool | Your going to get me into trouble with this question because my first response is "sit around and bitch and whine because they aren't flying and asking why they have to be at work if they aren't flying." But that's not entirely true. Most line-pilot (meaning they don't have another job like mx test pilot, instructor pilot, safety officer, production control, quality control, etc.) Warrant Officers have additional duties. They might be the supply officer, or night vision goggle officer or whatever, so they have that kind of stuff to do. There's also routine, non-flying training to be done, such as rifle/ pistol quals, gas mask training, PT, and a myriad of other things. There's also mission planning, weekly aviation classes, sim flights, and threat training. And most importantly, the most junior warrant manages the fridge fund. ![]() |

![]() While watching sweet little admin. types going into the PX. ![]() We've all(Enlisted, Commissioned, and Warrant) got to do things we really don't want to, or duties that fall outside of our MOS. Warrants have to assume certain responsibilities to qualify for career advancement.

| Still not a hard life unless your mobility officer...What a horrible additional duty. Even as an enlist crewmember, we had additional duties etc....Mine was tracking all the idiots who were close to dropping dead on currency requirements, finding them, bitching at them, and setting up a sim or real worlsd flight for them to get their hacks

| I have a question for active army aviators, When you are in garrison how often do you fly? Are all of your missions assigned or can you request to go fly to work on whatever you feel you need to work on as an aviator? Is there an ability to fly as often or as little as you want? |

As far as what you want to do on a flight it depends as well. Missions are usually assigned and you have to fly in order to accomplish the mission, maintence flights and training flights are pretty specific. Typically you'll spend a few flights a month doing continuation training were you can work on what you would like to.

New WOs won't be able to track right away, which is a good thing, plus you'll probably have a better idea on what you would want to track after a few years of flying.
