Default Flight Aptitude Test

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/076...lance&n=283155

I recommend the ARCO, Military Flight Aptitude Test book for anyone looking into a pilot slot with any of the armed forces...This was the study guide I used a couple years ago, and scored a 130 on the AFAST (army)...Read the book, then take a practice test...Read the book and take the practice...Read the book again, and then take another practice test! Your going to want to be as prepared as possible for your test, and from my experiences, I have found this is the best study tool on the market...

Hope this helps youg jedis.....

=)

i have also encrougaed a friend of mine to take the test early, that way you can plan on your second test to be before your deadline. as far as afoqt goes, make sure you are studying for the new test. i did some work on some of the old sections that are no longer there.

the math got me pretty bad, and now the math is included in your pilot score. wantscheck.com has a link to a math study package for the afoqt for purchase. i would have done it, if i had seen it.

Frog, goodluck on the PPL x ride...Im sure you will do fine......One of the best days of my life was after landing the simulated engine failure on my ppl x-ride and the DE saying, Mike...Congratulations...You are the newest private pilot in the United States!!!

If I can give you any advice, i'd say get a good nights sleep...Seriously, dont worry and try to get into bed at 8 or 9 oclock...Dont do any studying before bed, and most importantly the morning of your exam...If your CFI signed you off then you are ready for the test, and I know way to many people who got nervous the morning of, and crammed and ended up confusing themselves resulting in failed checkrides....

The DE is not looking for you to be a chuck yeager or a charles lindberg...Your prolly an 80-100 hour pilot, and its just not possible to be perfect with that amount of flight training...Just show the DE you are a compitant pilot, who if he signs off, is not going to go kill himself, or others, two weeks from now...Also, show him that you understand that the PPL is only a license to learn, and that a safe pilot is always learning new things...Hell, the Xride is a perfect scenario to learn a few new tips...Dont feel shy to ask the DE questions...He will like that...

On a side note, I have another suggestion for you to start doing once you become a private pilot...Buy a journal...Start logging details about every flight you ever take into that journal...Highlight what you did wrong or what you feel you could have done better...Study the journal, find your strenghts and weaknesses and learn from them...I started doing this after my commercial ticket, and i'll tell ya...I wish I started sooner...I am near completing my second journal, and i'll tell ya...I dont have a single entry that doesnt have a mistake, or something I feel I could have done better logged in it...There is never a "perfect" flight, because you can always do better......Just something to think about...

Goodluck bud!
