Default Questions

Hey all. I'm not finished with Highschool yet and before I go into the prosses of becoming I would like some questions answered.

Is there any height restrictions for being a jet pilot?

Do you have to have 20/20 vison?

Before joining the Air Force, how will you know you will be a pilot?

If you join ROTC, after your 2nd college year, you "sign up" for a pilot slot, and you find out if you get it or not. You CAN be accepted, but not qualify for pilot, and they'd offer you Nav, or some other officer position.

If you get all college done first, you apply for OTS, and find out the same stuff (qual/no qual)

YES

No, but there are restrictions. I want to say 20/70 corrected to 20/20. They do allow certain types of laser surgery too.

You cannot just "Join" to be a pilot. You must be an officer. To be an officer, you must have a 4 year degree. If you do not take advantage of ROTC scholarships, you don't have to go in unless you apply, and are offered, a pilot slot.

There is a really good website for prospective/hopeful miltary pilot candidates. Damn if I cannot remember it though. I'll try and find it for you......

So if I was to pay for my own college while doing ROTC for 4 years, I'd have no commitment afterwards?

I'm going to be applying to the ANG. Would it help a lot if I did 4 years of ROTC before applying?

Of course you'll have a commitment if you get commissioned through ROTC. The commitment length is based on your AFSC (job). This is not a civilian job that you can just back out of or resign if you don't like it.

Do a search and go to baseops.net Try military.com in the forums there as well. This has been talked about a lot on all three sites.
