Default AF carrier landings

Curiosity question: I seem to recall (an astronaut I think but I can't find the info again) somebody from the Air Force who did some sort of exchange program w/the Navy - or maybe it was attending the Naval War College (??) and anyway, although they were career-USAF, they'd logged a few (15-20 or something like that) carrier landings...it would seem if I'm remembering this correctly would be a rather unusual situation -

another question for anyone who might know: Who's in line to fly the new F/A-22? Is it very experienced USAF pilots only, or are people coming out of classes able to bid into the Raptor?

The AF and Navy exchange pilots all the time. A friend of mine is a Navy S-3 driver, currently flying A-10s at Davis Monthan AFB.

Only experienced F-15 pilots are transitioning to the F-22 at this time (according to another bud of mine, an F-15 driver in the 1st FW at Langley AFB, the first operational unit to fly the Raptor.)

"Unusual" is your avatar pic....when/where was that taken???

Hey - Thanks for the info! I think it was Charlie Precourt, a retired astronaut, whom I thinking of but not sure.
The avatar: I found here: http://www.blueangels.org/Tbirds/Tbirds.html
Every so often the T-Birds and Blues get together and have a heated game of softball and do some flying together...that page has pics from other years...this was from the Nellis 1999 re-union, and the Canadian Snowbirds joined them and so that's the Delta formation w/2 from each...pretty cool I thought!

They got together this year in Pensacola as well. All three demonstration teams fooled around in the air together. Pretty neat to watch but the traffic around the base those days was horrible.
