|  AFOQT Scores First of all, I'm new here. I've been looking at some of your AFOQT scores, and I am starting to feel terrible about mine. I just got them today: Pilot - 69 Nav - 62 Acad - 64 Verbal - 62 Quant - 60 I really just want to get into AMS. Are my scores as bad as I think they are? I have to decide whether I want to re-enlist in the USAFR by 26 Nov 05. Part of my decision rests on whether my scores are competitive enough for AMS. Any words of wisdom?

| you might wanna check out wantscheck.com for some info on scores etc...its geared more towards those trying to go into the AF than this board is. From what I've seen your scores are on the lower end, however scores are only part of the puzzle. |

| Okay, now I feel really, REALLY bad about my scores  Thanks ROFCIBC!Thanks for the wantscheck.com link. I'll pester people there! Don't tell my husband this, but I blew his scores out of the water. He's a navigator - surely they'll at least make me an officer

| Afoqt hey, I am currently a College senior at the University of Maryland. I have had my Private license since january, i about 125 hours total and just got my Multi-engine rating and have about 20 hours of multi time. I have been looking into joining the Air Force and have a couple questions about the AFOQT and the BAT. I feel pretty confident that i can do well on the AFOQT, i hear its like the SATs for College and Im not too worried about that...my question is how do I take the test, do i take it after i sign up with the air force or do i take the test and then do i sign up with the AF and apply to be an officer? can anyone tell me anything about the BAT? and what its like? how do previous flight time hours and a private license weigh in their decision making? any insights? thanks |

| I understand what you mean about the recruiter being slow to call you back. I'm having the same problem. The AFOQT you can either take before or after talking to a recruiter. The recruiter is probably used to people coming to him with nothing, so I am sure either way is fine. A good thing about going to the recruiter first is that he can give you guidance on how to study and questions you might have. Definitely visit www.wantscheck.com - they have practice tests that are very valuable. The most important thing is to study/practice and DO NOT take the test until you are ready. If you mess up, you will be waiting another six months to fix it. Start studying now! I only studied for 4 days and you can see how that affected my scores. I would say you will do well on the pilot portion b/c of your flying experience, but you should still practice being timed on the info...it's a lot different than just knowing the info. I have heard that an active duty pilot slot is tougher to get than a reserve slot right now. You will want to aim for 90s to be competitive. You are ahead of much of the competition right now with your PPL. They want to see that you are passionate enough about flying to pursue it on your own dime. Your GPA (I saw that on another post) is good. That's important. Now the BAT, I'm not too sure about. Do a Google for more information. From what I've read, I think it's almost like a video game. They want to see if your left hand can do things while your right hand is doing other things and your mind is in both hands at once. Good luck!
