Default Military Flight Attendants?

I don't know what made me think of this, but I know there's flight attendants in the military. Out of curiosity, can anyone answer some questions about being a military flight attendant?

What is the 'proper' term/job title for this function in the service?

Enlisted or Officer?

Are they in all branches?

How does one get that assignment?

Is it a desirable/sought after assignment?

Flight Attendant. At least in the Corps.

Enlisted

I'm not sure about the Army (C650 should be able to answer that . . .), but the rest of the services do.

In the Corps, you had to already have completed Crew Chief training (i.e. you can't enlist just to do this). After that, it was alot of luck, and some good performance to get that gig.

In the Corps, it's probably the best duty a crew chief can have!!!

Our's are CS's (Culinary Specialists) Though ours actually cook meals, and don't want a freekin' crew chief doing that. Not that we have crew chief's anyway. LOL.

Last NALO Flight I was on(Navy's version of MAC) The flight attendant was a CS as well, and the crew chief didn't do any type of FA duties, Though the aircraft was a C-20G and only 8 of us on the plane, so 1 guy doing FA duties was more than enough, doesn't take much to toss out box lunches.

Normally ours are senior CS, and have done a tour or two, though we got a bootcamp in last year. He was billeted in as an extra, so no harm, no foul. And he has spent more time bustin' rust on the aircraft than flyin' in it.

USAF are Inflight Passenger Service Specialists. Mostly assigned to the 89th Mil Airlift Wing at Andrews.

In the Army, at least at the level of flying I'm at, we call the Flight Attendant ... a Warrant Officer or pilot. Coffee, tea or me

It's up to me to get the MREs for the pax. I get sandwhiches when and where I can but this is a big challenge unless operating out of an Air Force base with a flight kitchen.

The only aircraft I can think of that would have one is the G4 and G5s we have at Andrews and in Hawaii. Those would be a senior enlisted position and not to bad duty at all.

Inflight pax specialist is one you can get immediate duty for after basic. You'll be based/domiciled at KADW.

Thinking of enlisting? I can hook you up!

Ha! I'd waddle my 30 year-old pregnant self into a recruiter's office and they'd probably bust a button laughing so hard.

4 years ago, maybe. But I'm too old, too married & my dad would probably smack me upside the head if I ever tried to enlist.

The Air Force One fleet has flight attendants. Enlisted personnel fill those positions. These planes are stationed at Andrews AFB, Maryland.

To be a FA (or inflight passenger service tech) in the Air Force you cannot do this job right out of basic training. Its called a special duty assignment. You gotta be in for at least 3yrs to apply for it and somtimes they require you to be a certin rank (depending on what rank they need, Ive only seen slots for E-5 and above). Most FA's on AF one are Master Sergents and above. For the rest of the VIP fleet at Andrews 89th AW are SrA and above. I did have a friend that flew with Clinton alot and he was TSgt. He said he really enjoyed the job alot. Most of the time you are serving Generals and congress men. Hope that helps

It wouldn't be the first time I'd been sent home from a job opportunity for being too short.
