Default Navy Uniform Change in the Works

Has anyone seen the new uniforms that the Navy is currently wear testing.

I'm glad I left when I did! Hey the new year round uniforms look like the Marines Charlies!
Here's the link if you want to see or read more.

See, now why can't you guys think of anything original?? Why does everybody talk trash about The Corps, and then try to be like us??

IMO the blues ones look to much like the Air Farce and the khakis(sp?) are to Marine. I dont like the BDU's because thats what will replace the officer khaki, which is my favoritve uniform.

Before I got out, they came out with this mandatory survey. It asked questions on how you liked the current uniforms and what kind of uniforms that we'd like to replace certain uniforms. Well of course everyone wants to wear BDU's(the woodland). And we all wanted a uniform we could wear year round. Leave it up to the big picture thinkers up in D.C., to pick some off the wall uniforms for those who actually have to wear them. I don't think anyone had those designs in mind when they filled out their surveys. They come up with grey camoflauge! The year round uniforms are the ugliest, especially the grey shirts! I'm all about tradition. There were three uniforms that were tried and true through the years; the crackerjack dress blues, the dress whites and the dungarees. Yeah the dungarees were bell bottom, but even though they looked like prison wear, it was traditon. Those new utilities suck a$$! How many times has the Corp changed their uniforms? I'm sure not as many as the Navy.

Actually, if I'm not mistaken, the Class B uniform of the USCG is the same shades of blue as the USAF, or darn close. Theirs looks like a USAF uniform, with USN-style shoulder insignia.

Takes an act of God (or the Commandant......same difference... ) to make even a minor uniform change in the Corps. Woodland Utilities had been the order of the day since Vietnam. I guess after 35 years, they can switch it up....everything else has pretty much remained the same!!

Well, the boots....they have new boots.

The new digital pattern the Marines wear was kind of odd at first but I got used to seeing them after a while at Camp Pendleton. I think there are some that still wear the woodland pattern. I've always thought the Marines had the best uniforms.

I think the mandarin-style collar of the new Marine utilities is f'n stoopid, but the digital camo pattern is pure genius--it messes with your depth perception, making it very difficult to discern an outline recognizeable as a humanoid carbon-based life form.

Personally I don't think they look half bad. Maybe it's just me.

The navy should have just replaced the working uniform with the coveralls. It is the most versatile uniform there is. When you are on ship, it is very nice when General Emergency gets called away to be able to just swing out ofyour rack, jump into your coveralls grab your boots and go. Plus they are the easiestt to take care of. I don't know why they want BDU crap. Here is a clue US Navy, your standing on a ship. The ship is what they are looking for. It doesn't matter that you can't be seen on board. The utilities suck because they still have your name written on the butt.

Dungarees were bad because they were prison uniforms and they had a stupid white hat.

When I first joined up I dreaded the idea of having to wear the "70's disco" bell bottom dungarees, but after a couple of years I learned to love those mofos. Tough as hell, easy to jump in and out of even with boots on, and actually quite comfortable after a few wash and wearings. I hated when the powers that be made us buy the new polyester blend "slack" type dungaree uniform. They just seemed to "nice" to do any real work in. The coveralls I loved, but that material was thin as crap - easily ripped and caught on the various obstacles in a typical passageway; paint actually bled through the coveralls and got on your skin or skivies; and no protection at all from the cold.

Those concept uniforms sure do look either too Marine or too Air Force. So, does this mean no more summer whites or "Johnny Cash's"?

I never had the problems with my coveralls that you did. My favorite part of the coveralls was no ironing required. I don't know if they are getting rid of the other uniforms or not. Someone said they liked the Khakis that officers and Chiefs wore. Man I hated that uniform. Give me my coveralls and a ball cap any day.

In the USAF, I was always jealous of the Crash-Rescue guys who wore the jumpsuit/coveralls. They looked a little more comfy then BDUs, and pretty practical too.

I always had a good laugh at our security guys. I understood when it was marines but navy security in camo??? Looked like a bunch of shrubs running around the haze gray ship.

Ahh, Airdales wear cami's(the pants anyway) on the flight deck now and have been since the Seabee's switched from the greenies to cami's. Not that I've ever been on a flight deck, but have worn cami's when in the desert. Would much rather wear cami's vice these texico looking utilites we have now. Coverall's is the top choice though, but not as a uniform, but as organizational clothing.

I hated the new dungarees! I still despise them. I agree that they should just go to the coveralls. That was the best idea they came up with. I do think the BDU's could become useful while in port or on shore duty, but coveralls 24/7 underway.

Why? Were the navy uniforms outdated, poorly fashioned, non-functional? I ask these questions because it seems as though the navy is opting for similar if not the same uniforms as the Marine Corps, AF and CG.
Especially those service unforms for females, they are exactly the same as the ones for female Marines. I agree that the male service uniforms look just like AF/CG uni's.
The Corps just did an evaluation and change of combat clothing. The digitized camo does serve a purpose, when camoflauge is needed. Squids just don't necessiate the need for camo.
This is lame.

Didn't the USMC change the BDUs too? They look different now.
