Default A Public Apology

Hey, fellow military JC'ers. A little while ago, a few of us were picking on one another in typical, hard-core military fashion. During that time, I realize now that I may have hurt the feelings of one or more of our military members (one more so than others). This wasn't my intent, as I've teased and joked with more than a few of my fellow Marines and I've never known anyone to be really personally offended.

All of you, I sincerely apologize for saying things that were insensitive. My joking has gone too far, and I need to think about how my jokes will affect others before I open my mouth. While I'm laughing, somebody else may be crying.

So, I hope that you all accept my apology. Really. From the bottom of my heart.

This is a virtual forum that at it's core is merely a bunch of ones and zeros. I highly doubt anyone cares enough about what you or me or any one else says or thinks enough to be hurt or offended. I think you may be flattering yourself really.

And please keep the whiney private messages coming into my mailbox. I derive great entertainment out of them.

1's and 0's, but people'll write those 1Mb "You guys are mean and I'm going away/Delete my posts" threads on occasion!

And of course I don't mean to undermine your batch of zeros and ones Doug. The zeros and ones are put together very well on this website.

Remember in high school (oh...wait....forget I said that).

You know, like in high school? Nobody teases the kids that ignore it!!

Now normally I would never bash a fellow service member or service, but MikeD's post brings back to mind what the crazy company commanders had us singing in USN bootcamp (if you can call it that)

"I don't know but it's been said....Air Force wings are made of lead"......
"I don't know but I've been told....Navy wings are made of gold".....

It's all pretty stupid now, but as a n00b in bootcamp it sounded cool. The AF wings may be made of lead, but their food was MUCH, MUCH better. At my first duty station, Pearl Harbor, I spent more time eating at the AF base than I did the mess hall. Anyhow.

MikeD I will understand if this gets me demoted in JC-AirAmerica. Jsut point me to the mop and bucket and the cleaning will commence.

Sorry Sir !

Im sure you've heard that when the A-10 is flying it has to worry about bird strikes from the rear

I thought Lloyds apology was actually just a set up for a bigger joke, but guess not. I've never been offended in here but I don't know #### either.

Hey, no apology necessary! We all understand that a Marine's joking is the result of brainwa, er, I mean training that you guys go thru!

You're a good guy, Lloyd, even though you have never known the pleasure of getting up at the chow hall and leaving your tray for somebody else to pick up!

Here's one for the Air Farce.

They can't even decide on a damn BDU/Utility uniform! They come up with this blue/grey abomination that's just terrible and totally non-useful anywhere.

Personally, I don't know what's wrong with the current woodland camo BDUs. They seem to work just fine.

Seems to me someone up high is coming up with new stuff to fix what isn't broken with the uniforms. Maybe some General that needs another star, or some Colonel that seeks a star.

Typical AF #########............

Those idiots are worried about getting a new utility uniform, meanwhile our jets are falling apart, our people are overworked, and we have so much extra infrastructure sucking away $$$ that we can't fix any of this crap.

Don't feel bad, mike D....you can eat and just drop your tray off at the table!!

Doesn't that make it all so worth it?

Ahhhhhhh, yes! When I was in basic training, the brand new thing was that EVERYBODY was issued the ASNP "Aircrew-Style Name Patch" like the flyboys wear, except it would be worn on the BDUs. So in Basic we all got issued blank leather ASNPs with little temporary Dymo-type labels with our name and rank on them....then we got issued the real ones when we got out of basic.

THEN about a year, they decided to phase-in the previously adequate style of uniform with the nametapes (you know, the kind that ALL the other services use). So there was a transition period where both styles were OK, and then by the time I got out the nametapes style was mandatory....we had come full-circle!

It was at this time that the new style dress blues came out, too. I was going before a board and I wanted to look real slick and high-speed, so I went out and dropped the cash on this thing when it first came out.

No need to apologize. You're doing a fine job.
