Hey, get that Academy date yet? I think you may be going on record as the longest wait ever. That's got to deserve some sort of award.

Swinte00, Any new news? Have you been to the PEPC yet? I'm on the referral list and selected AR & OK as my geo pref's. I met with Roger Luck-FSM Mgr. a few months back. I was going to try to stop in @ FSM but he was actually in Fayetteville the day I was off so I met him at Drake field. He had some new hires with him. He seemed like a good guy and the people he had with him seemed cool as well. Have you had much interaction with anyone from FSM yet?

    Thanks, Devin

swinte00, how have things progressed for you trying to to become an ATC? I saw your geo. pref's as Arkansas and Okla... Has that worked out for you so far? I just got my at-sat score today- well qualified... and I was thinking of choosing AR & OK. I'm in NW Ark. I've heard that because the school is in OK it draws alot of locals who choose OK as their geo pref. and it seems that there are only 2 FAA towers in AR. Let me know, I'd like to get some input from you as this seems to be a long drawn-out painful process and I just turned 30 so I've got 12 months to get my TOL.

    Thanks, Devin

Greetings to all. I hope in the absence of blog updates you find yourselves in good health and possibly at the MMAC in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Initial Tower Cab has been extremely fun, challenging in different aspects, but most of all, a great learning experience. We moved from the Tabletops to the TSS labs a few weeks ago and I am set to complete both my Ground Control and Local Control PVs in approximately 12 hours.

The TSS labs are outdated and the video screens are...

Hello everyone! (If anyone still checks this thing)

I've been busy plowing away with Initial Tower Cab training for the past two weeks. We started on night shift (hence, no updates) and we've been on days this week. I have to say that my instructors DEFINITELY know what they're doing, just as my basics instructors did. I got placed in a class with mostly military and a few CTI grads. Everyone gets along great and the few times we've been to the labs, we've been doing really good....

Weather is still consuming our class... But only until Tuesday. We have covered AIRMETs, METARs, TAFs, SIGMETs, Convective SIGMETs, and any other type of weather reporting you could ever possibly imagine. However, what the people from the NWS fail to let you know is that reading a METAR is NOT the same as the ATIS you will have at your airport. Here's a brief example of a METAR and what it means.

Hey everyone!

First and foremost I want to apologize for the lack of updates recently. Last week we began night shift (July 27 through the 31st) and I was honestly too exhausted to get online and type about the evenings I had been experiencing. So, thanks in part to jeffm1999, I have decided to start updating my blog again as much as possible. I will try to give a rundown of the things that we covered last week and this week as best as I can.

Last week we spent going...

I apologize for the lack of updates from the past few days. My girlfriend came to visit over the weekend so we spent most of that time going sightseeing and spending time together, so the computer was left cold and alone with no attention whatsoever.

Friday was spent reviewing material for Block Test #2 which was tonight (Monday night). We played Jeopardy and my team managed to come in 1st place! GO AVERAGE JOES!

Saturday was spent downtown at the OKC Memorial...
