hey there. yeah, the Twotters are a bit scattered about, too far apart! skydive ops love them though, thats a good place to look for an opportunity & living in CA might put you in fairly close prox to one or 2!
i had the op in Colorado (Twin Otter Airborn Research). they do aerial mapping all over the world for nasa and the government. look them up, they dont care where you live. if you really show enthusiasm and dont mind being used as an occassional pilot when they need you, theyd probly hire you (bug'em) and the pay is descent too. there are a few places in AK that fly them but not as many as ya might think. Canada seems to fly quite a few. oh, try Scenic Airlines in Vegas & there is another that flies outta the Grand Canyon. SeaBorne Airlines flies them on floats throughout the caribbean.
Skydive Arizone flies the heck out of them in Eloy!

and a company in canada bought the stc's for all DH's utility aircraft and are going to produce new Twin Otters Beavers and Buffalo's
