HA! When did you hear? I am about to quit. I had to down 3 planes today because of maint. issues. One of them had the ADF removed, and no change to the w&b. Preaty simple to make it right, also preaty simple for the feds to look inside and see something isn't right. 15R also had the fuel tank just fixed, still leaking, only worse, and the cap isn't positioned properly.

definitely, bear in mind as well that you'll be unemployable to CAL until you have a degree, a ####load of multi, or can get enough of his buddies to try to get you onboard too. I have a personal reference at Northwest (Delta now I guess) from what was a fairly senior captain (until the merger) and I'm still unable to get on without the degree, so that should way heavily on your decision making. Good luck, and congrats.

Yeah, you'd probably be in the van in the beginning of 2010 or so, that sounds about right. Uhh, the van is bad up here because the caravan doesn't like ice, and you're pretty much always getting ice. Plus, you're flying it into 1800' strips and the like, so there is a definite need for more experience. Finally, insurance on the van up here is quite pricey, so there is a definite need for them to trust someone really well. As for why I'm not there, I'd be at hageland right now if I wasn't going to college, or could get time off for it (unfortunately, its hard to coordnate working and living in the bush with university life). Its a great great job.

You'll be in the sled and out of the right seat of the van in about 2-3 months if you stay out there pretty much the whole time, then next winter you'd probably be moved back into the caravan. That seems to be the progression. Its worth it though, because its dangerous in the caravan there, and the sled is the logical progression, even though down in the states you could go into a caravan at 1200TT its not a good idea up here.

Oops, TPIC. You won't get multi till you've been there for a while cuz you need to be 23, but you'll get turbine PIC in the caravan after a winter in the 207.

600-1000TT You'll be in the right seat of the van.
1000TT-2000TT or so, left seat of the 207
2000TT-3000TT left seat of the Caravan.

    The pay is outstanding too.

Go to hageland. Its going to be rough out there, but seriously, it will be a very good job over the long run. A lot of times, guys htere are on the 3000hr plan, you'll have 3000TT, 1000MTPIC or so, and a whole bunch of bush experience. I'd go for that.
