| Senior Member | I got the phone call today that I was hired by Mesa Airlines for a CRJ First Officer position. I know that most people around here have a negative opinion of Mesa, but I think it really is what you make of it. I will be able to upgrade to Captain in less than a year. You can't do that at too many airlines. I'll also make considerably more money than I do at Ram Air once I upgrade. I'll also be able to hold CLT as a base after about six months or so. That is a huge plus for me. Once I start building up the turbine PIC time, I should become marketable for a good corporate job out there. Flying for a corporate or fractional company is my long term goal. Overall, I am very pleased and look forward to starting class on June 30th.

| Congrats on the new job!!! Study hard and find a great study group. When is your last day at Ram? Someday you will look back at Ram with some fondness and actually miss the flying. Keep working hard and enjoy the next two months. |

Having said that, my experience at Ram Air has been a positive one. Spending a year and a half as a freight dog has definitely made a real pilot out of me. ![]()

| MESA is furloughing. There is no reason why you had to go to MESA. There are many other places hiring. Yes, I am raining on your parade. I just looked at your total time, and realized this HAS to be flame bait. I bit, hook, line, and sinker. |

Many other places hiring? Maybe 3-6 months ago.. but that list is rapidly shrinking. As to the OP- Upgrade in less than a year? It was around 10 months if you had the time; but I think those days are gone, considering the current circumstances. CLT in 6 months? I wish you the best. Took me 8 months. Oh, and if you do get CLT, then upgrade... it will take you about 7-8 years to get back to CLT. So you know.. Anyhow, not trying to be negative (like someone), welcome aboard.. nice to have another number between me and possible furlough! Haha.. feel free to PM me if you've got any questions.

| Don't do it. When another airline holds a groundschool class, several Mesa pilots will find their way into that class. Do you think there's a reason for that? |

| You know they've mailed out WARN letters, right? This is not a rumor. There will be furloughs. |

| Senior Member | I got an e-mail two days ago saying that my groundschool had been postponed until further notice. I am still in the hiring pool, but I am going to continue looking elsewhere. What I really wanted to do was get some quick turbine PIC time and then move onto something better, but it looks like I'll be going back to the drawing board. Hopefully I can find something better than Mesa, and still be able to stay in the CLT area. Decent pilot jobs are getting tougher and tougher to find these days, especially without turbine time. As far as the WARN letters go, I know two Mesa pilots who received them. They both expect to be furloughed in the very near future. Right now I am just grateful for the job that I have. Ram Air isn't the best company to work for, but it is far from the worst. I do get paid a somewhat respectable salary. We also have two former Comair pilots that are now working for Ram Air. I think that says something. For all of the current Mesa pilots, I will be praying for you guys. I hate to see anybody lose their jobs. However, I don't think that I will be joining Mesa anytime soon.
