| Comming to a Dash 8 near you No RJ for me! Got hired at Piedmont flying the Dash 8 up and down the east coast. Class starts later this summer. I got hired the same week that 4 airlines filed for bankruptcy. |

| Re: Comming to a Dash 8 near you Congrats man! The Dash looks like a fun plane to fly.
Do you know what base you will get? Aside from LGA their domiciles seem to be in good areas that a first year FO might be able to afford to break away from the Ramen noodles a few nights a month. If they are still hiring in about 6 months, maybe I can get on for MDT. |

| Re: Comming to a Dash 8 near you I dont know what base I'll be at yet. I've heard that MDT is really senior. There are people that have been based there for longer than I've been alive. Cost of living seems to be good in most of the bases and hopefully I'll be able to break away from the Ramen noodle diet. On that note, I find it interesting that starting FO pay at Piedmont is significantly higher than starting pay at Mesa for a CRJ900. I know I shouldnt compare the two.
Back to the bases, I'm hoping for CHO or ROA. I couldnt afford LGA and all of the trips are day trips. To be honest, I'm kinda indifferent as to where I get based. I have no attachments to any of the cities. I will live in base though. I dont want to commute. |

| Re: Comming to a Dash 8 near you Congrats! A buddy of mine just finished up ground school on Friday and had nothing but positive things to say. Supposedly the sim is backed up so now he gets to sit at home for a while until they call him with a date to head back down to CLT. |

Don't set your permanent bid for ROA. We currently have nearly 20 F/O's sitting reserve there. You'll only fly about 50 hours a month. Go to MDT or SBY if you want to fly alot.
Welcome aboard...PDT ain't so bad and the Dash is a blast to fly..If you need info or anything shoot me a PM.

| Re: Comming to a Dash 8 near you Welcome to PDT. MDT base here.
MDT is a very senior base for Captain, not for FO. I have learned a lot from those "very experienced" CA.
Rightseatgirl, where are you based?

| Re: Comming to a Dash 8 near you Rightseatgirl, life at MDT is not bad.
Once awhile, they let us out to south. You will be surprised there are few CAs who have not flown down to CLT in their careers till few months ago.
Got to love CLT rush hours and CLT - MDT flights.

| Re: Comming to a Dash 8 near you Congrats, man! You'll have fun flying the Dash, I'm told. Turboprops make a real aviator out of you.
It's a nice resume bullet to lean on when you go over to the Dark Side and become a jet button pusher later in life.
Not that anybody I know would do that...
