| Yo... haven't been on here for a while What's up?!?!?! Last time I was on JC was late summer of last year. I started training with Xjet in summer and everything seemed to be looking good. I had finally made the big step towards the airlines. After about 1700hrs and 4 years of CFIing I figured it was time to make the next step.
I love to travel and I think the number one thing that attracted me to the airlines was the travel benefits of an airline pilot. Anyway, after having a crappy quality of life and seeing that I was going no where (with no hiring), I decided to quit. So I left about 6 weeks ago and got a new job back as a CFI in SoCal. Finally a CFI gig that allows me to make good money AND be home everynight.
I think CFIing is my calling. I love to teach others how to fly. I like to fly for fun. It's a good thing when you can bank the wings whenever you want and not have to worry about 50+ other people in the airplane.
My new plan (hah! we'll see if this one last) is to CFI for a while until the FAA finally accepts my application as a DPE... I don't care if it takes many years, I'll be ready for it.
..... oh yeah, HI EVERYONE! I plan on being around more and making more post.... I also look forward to seeing all of you in October.... VEGAS!!!!!

You never know, perhaps a good corporate gig will fall in your lap too. The more I fly the more I'm glad I stayed away from the airlines. GA is the way to go these days. |

JK. welcome back amigo. | Funny thing is that we broke up in early April. After 7 years (SEVEN!), we're finally JUST friends and nothing more... its a lil' weird and hard to get used to it, but its really for the best.

A few months ago I was jumpseating across the country in the jumpseat and some woman who knew you came up to the cockpit (she's an F/A at the mainline carrier whose flight I was jumpseating on) to get advice about a trip to Australia and New Zealand she was en route to (I had just returned from Melbourne and Sydney, and the captain used to fly nothing but Pacific Rim stuff for years with CO Micronesia so he was like a travel agent). In conversing eventually your name came up somehow, she knew you but I didn't though the named sounded familiar from what she said (transcon commute to EWR reserve).
Small world huh.
I bet you don't miss that commute one iota! Good luck with the DPE process, however long it may take.

Glad to hear that you are following your heart and you aren't just going to sit out there and complain. The world needs more people like you. Give me a shout sometime, I might need some help up here as we get busier and even if you just want to fill in, I could always use the help. Shoot me a PM when you get a chance. DPE?

I remember she had all of January off, so she took a trip to Australia and New Zealand. I haven't really talked to her since I've left EWR, but its crazy how small of a world this is. Quote:

Bakersfield was cool cause is easy flying and plenty of flying, but I miss LA and I'm glad to be back here. I appreciate the offer. Maybe I'll head up there some time. Thanks, we'll keep in touch.
