I got nervous going through El Monte airspace, so accidentally called the female controller "Sir". She replied "Sir!?" I laughed and explained that Im on my first solo XC and a bit nervous. She wishes me luck, and I continue on. Coming back, she recognizes my tail # and asks how the flight is going. I tell her really well, and continue through her airspace. As I'm leaving, I ask for a Freq. change, and she replies, "Go ahead, Ma'am." .... "Ma'am?!" "Gotcha :P" Really relaxed me and made the trip more comfortable.

Went out to French Valley today (F70) via Paradise VOR. First time tracking a VOR for navigation, not just practicing/playing around. Went well, but im glad I had the GPS unit to back me up.
