Default Interview with Republic Airways

I got the call this morning that Republic is interested in interviewing me. My interview is on April 8. I am really excited about it!! It sounds like they are the best regional airline out there.

Congrats! I'll be interviewing on April 9th. I would love to hear about your interview day when it's over. Maybe we could PM each other or exchange phone numbers? At any rate, best of luck!

Good luck on the interview! I'll be rubbing elbows with some folks from RAH in St. Louis over the next two weeks during sim training.

No pool...just TOO many classes going. Sims are already backed up 2 weeks and Flight Safety is maxed out on the number of classrooms and sims. I'm not even done training and I've got 100 people below me.

Good luck with the interview, that's one of my first choices. I have a couple of friends who fly for them already and they love it. I just need a little more time. 650TT 92 multi.

I'm in the last CHQ 145 sim class at HOU through at least August as of today. It isn't because of sim shortage down here. There are 4 145 sims and plenty of instructors. Our instructor is a little concerned because he was hired at Flight Safety specifically to train CHQ pilots. He's glad he can now do Legacy classes.

Me thinks Republic has plenty of 145 pilots at the moment and the need to keep hiring is not as high for now. Think about it for a moment. There are currently 2173 pilots. There are 217 aircraft. 5 crews per airplane (approx). That works out to 2170 pilots. We will need more pilots this year for the additional aircraft we are picking up, but aren't we trying to get rid of the 140s and 135s? The attrition rate was pretty high recently, but I doubt it's going to stay high. Where would everyone go? The hiring almost everywhere else is slowing down.

So, the main reason Republic is still interviewing is because of the new aircraft and an expected attrition rate. Who knows if that rate will continue. On top of that, we're flying an airplane at CHQ that is "on the cutting block". Not only are the 140s and 135s slated to be gotten rid of, the 145 supposedly isn't far behind. Not to mention the CRJs we have. When the 116 37-50 seat aircraft are gone, that's a need for over 1000 less pilots. Hopefully, Republic will need and want to exercise the option to continue receiving additional 170/175s over the next few years and/or the attrition rate will keep up so you won't actually see a need for 1000 less pilots here.

I've been told by a lot of company folks here that Bedford won't remove airplanes from the fleet without replacing them. I would expect the 175 deliveries to continue until eventually, they are the entire fleet.

Goodluck on your interview pilot4500!

I interviewed Mar. 26, I got called the next day for CHQ April 29 class but I couldn't make it so they switched me to the RW 170 5/13. I don't think that class has filled, I was probably one of the first to be placed in it, wonder why they just don't switch these guys into there.

I hope, for our sake, that he can hold to that.

What are the advantages/disadvantages of the RW vs. CHQ side other than the basis? Can you select or just take what they have available at the moment?

And what do you need to bring to the interview other than the required documents? Do you need a calculator for the wonderlic or ifr test?

At the interview they will ask you where you would like to be based; they do not want to hear what aircraft you want from what I've been told/read. I wanted Atlanta for commute reasons but was offered CHQ 145 anyways. I was unable to make that class but had given the date of availability during the interview, so when I mentioned it they were like "that's right" and gave me another class for the RW 170.

As far as documents, I took 3 copies (they only needed 1) of my driver's license, passport, medical, FCC license, and pilot's license. I also took my own calculator for use during the IFR test. The wonderlic does not allow a calculator. They allowed you to use your cell if you didn't have one for the IFR test, but as they put it "no life lines".
