WOO HOO!!.. flew into the clouds for the first time today!.. wat a weird feeling.. i kinda like braced myself as i saw the layer of cloud coming up to me! hahahahaha!... we flew for abt 2.5 hrs and all of that was actual! cool! such a weird feeling to be flyin the clouds and then hear a very familiar sound.. and i was so distracted, even though my scan was goin, i wasnt really payin attention to wat the instruments were tellin me, i was so focused on that sound!.. hmmm... turn on the landing lights in the clouds and see u are flyin thru rain! cool!, had to shake off the disorientation to get back to flyin the airplane!... weird feeling! couldnt see a thing thru out the flight, just grey and black all around! u dont feel like u are moving unless u turn the landing lights on, and damn!.. u dont even sense a 20degree bank! haha! the flight was a very good experience, a thousand times better than flyin with the foggles on!... was kinda frustrating whn u are flyin perfectly trimmed out, altitudes and headings on the dot!, thn POOF!.. u hit an up draft whn u enter a cummulus cloud, and u have to set up all over. any tips on nailing those altitudes? and also, ugh!.. landing after being in the clouds for over 2 hrs can be tricky!.. wat would have been an easy landing was such a bumpy, rough landing.. yuck!.. any pointers on how to transition from instrument scannin to visual flyin. this question would have sounded so weird whn iwas flyin VFR! hahaha... all in all.. the flight was a great experience, gotta go up in the clouds more often!.. |

awesome!!! what a great feeling, huh! as far as an answer to your question i do one of two things....tell the passengers there are strong winds so they think the rough landing isnt your fault, or two, just open your eyes really wide in a frail attempt to see better....at least thats just me (i hope someone has an actual answer for you!) congrats on the IMC though!

He is at the aviator. The flight rules are one of the best parts about the aviator. There are none. Mike should set up a freight dog bridge program.

SIU isn't that far off. With a CPL-ME/IR being the current mins at many places, this scenario is not that unrealistic. | |
