Congrats Andy! Glad everything is going well for you! Just to think back in October you came all the way out to the SIU career fair looking for XJET and you found RAH....pretty cool you've come this far!

How do you like flying the 170/175? Tell us your opinion about the "Junglebus!"

The Junglebus is a blast to fly. It's weird because it really is "just an airplane" and it flies the same..go figure. The 175 is easier to land than the 170, but other than a few different weights, it's the same plane. I can't complain...it's all new to me, but I'm having a ton of fun. 175 knot headwind today coming back from PWM, so that made for a long flight, esp. after having to wait to get de-iced....but once the door is closed..$$$$$

Same to you!! Do you know what you're flying yet? I assume it'll be the CRJ..??

The storms made a really pretty picture on radar...

Thanks man!! That job fair was a great experience and well worth the price of a SWA buddy pass. I actually got the XJT interview and job offer as well. I'll be letting them know soon that I won't be coming to class, but no class date as of yet. It was a tough decision...but it was the timeframe that ultimately made my decision to go with RAH. They're both great companies!

You made a good choice, there won't be any classes run at Express until April or possibly May and the new hires won't be headed out west anymore. All of our upgrades are coming out of Newark and Houston at this point, so your commute to Denver will kick the crap out of a commute to Newark or Houston.

Cool, I love the junglebus!

I enjoy hearing from pilots who fly it. Each one has a different opinion it seems.

Some say they love it, while others say it is a boring jet, because it is too automated, and that the 145 or CRJ 700-900 are better "pilot" jets.

Yeah..it's pretty automated...the main difference obviously being the auto throttles. Every flight I've hand flown it to at least FL250 before engaging and almost always manually adjust the throttles myself during the landing..the training CA prefers it so we're more in control. It just doesn't feel right watching them move to idle on their own...though I'm sure in time I'll let them do their job. Tomorrow a "regional" leg from PHL to DFW...time to read a good book.

Been on that flight. Thats a looonngg flight. Especially with a good headwind. In fact I was on a Freedom CRJ-900 DFW-JFK today. That was a long flight too. At least I was in 1st class

Just FYI, if somebody is saying the EMB-145 isn't one of the most automated airplanes out there then they haven't flown anything but the EMB-145. This thing does ALMOST everything for you. The Chieftain and Beech 99 made you work a lot more for your money, and after having sat up front on 737 classics and 757's the ERJ has got to be one of the most automated airplanes out there.

I jumpsat on a 75 and thought that thing was super automated. The 145 must be crazy automated then

Add to the fact you never touch anything in the 170, even the throttles lol. Coming from CRJ's I was like "Uhhhh, what can I touch?"

the 175 climbs like a dog compaired to the 170, which you would except with a 3500lb higher MTOW and the same wing on both airframes, unlike the 190/195.

the worst part about the plane is the damn pilot seat!! the saab was more comfortable. they need to throw some lazy boys up in there!

be careful on those PHL-IAH/DFW flights, you get stronger headwinds and storms that pop-up down south and youll be diggin into your RSV fuel.

The 190/195 has a different wing then the 70/75?

190 has a bigger wing than the 170.....Only makes sense, it's quite a bit larger plane.

I sat in a 190 js last year....

Yeah the 145 is very automated.....but the 170/190 is even more! It's got to be one of the easiest FO gigs out there.

Brasilia FO is known to be the opposite...busy seat.

I was talking to an Airways 737 captain last night, who is being forced to go to the A320. He's not happy about it.

He has training this week, and he was telling me about how fracking automated that plane is.

And I and the Delta 767 captain sitting next to me were completely blown away...

The Junglebus sounds alot like the A320, in terms of automation!

Yeah...it's automated, but I don't think you're going to see any new planes being produced now that aren't as automated. SWA is even having auto throttles added to their fleet. Regardless, you've still got 76 people behind you and you've still got to get her down. It's been a blast so far...if you don't like the automation, fly her yourself! (I do have to say, the vertical profile option is amazing as well!!)

Ugh, I have one of those turns my next trip. I bring an inflatable memory foam pad, plus a roll up cushion from walmart. Makes those trips muuuucchhh easier to take.

The "new" seats in 112+ are better, but still suck. Embraer really needs to go back to the drawing board with them.

True. But, I think that Boeing's idea of automation is very different in direct comparison to Airbuses. At least that's what I've heard concerning the 777.

Not sure about the new 787 however!

What's the "vertical profile?"
