That sucks. I didn't realize you guys wern't getting used anymore than that. I was the most second most junior in my class and I don't know how I stayed off either the ATR or 700. Good luck man.

Isnt that a good thing not to work and get paid? Im a new FO on the ATR and I really like it.. The captains are really good guys.. The training department is excellent as well. I was the oldest in my class and bid for the ATR.. I am glad I did.

Priorities change as we age! Most of the younger guys are itching for the flight time and wouldn't want the time off. Personally, I'd take the ATR but it wasn't offered in my class.

Currently I am in Thermopolis, WY...had to deliver an airplane. Tomorrow (saturday) is going to be a busy day for me because I have to fly back home, get there late around 6:30pm. Then when I get there, I have to pack and spend the last few hours with my wife. After that, leave the next day (sunday) to be in ATL for a few months.

How do you guys do it?

Yeah same here, la quinta is the best hotel we use around here except for maybe the hyatt with the 72 in tv's. Congrats and welcome to the new class! If you have questions feel free to ask, im sure there are plenty of people on here or running around the hotel that can help you out.

Here is a question, how do you guys get from the hotel to ASA every morning? Is there a shuttle ride or is it close enough to walk?

The hotel has a shuttle service that can set you up if you dont have a vehicle.

I have no clue really. I know when my class came in the hotel was full and 2 people stayed next door at the super 8 until rooms where available here (lq). It seems like they have plenty of rooms though.

Not anymore! The new contract has allowed the ATR FOs to bail to either the 700 or the 200. As of the last award at least 15 ATR FOs will be gone by May. It will increase with the next award this month. ATR reserve is probably now going to be around 3-4 months. Looks like we got quite an ASA clique going on at JC. BobDduck will be calling us the ASA cheerleading squad like he does XJET

ATR reserve may be going down but as everyone moves over the 700 reserve is still going up. Do you know how many of you guys are going to the 7? I have been told that I can expect to be on reserve for a MIN of 8 mos. With all these ATR guys moving over its likely I will see that and quite some more time. Of course I have heard the max is a year an 1/2 but who knows.

700 reserve will be well over a yr. We are getting 2 more 700s in April and the 700 is where the growth will be so Im willing to bet a year from today you'll be holding a line.

Hooray for year long reserves!!

Oh well, at least im in a decent plane, I hope the overnights are good, that is assuming I get to fly on reserve. If not I will enjoy getting payed my 23/hr to sit at home watching tv and surfing jc lol.

This is the easiest job i've ever had. I been sitting here all week playing video games, clubbing downtown, working out, moving into my new crib in Atlanta, all while being paid. I have no complaints about reserve. I knew what the reserve situation might be like around here so I picked my butt up and moved here. If I was commuting from Dallas life would not be so sweet. Like Chris Ford said, its all bout choices you make and taking responsibility for them. Maybe I need to throw a Mini M&G at my place, I got plenty of time to kill.

Nice, well while you are having fun im stuck in the la quinta recovering from my bronchitis and trying to go through these darned flows for my last cpt tomorrow. A meet and greet would be awesome...seems like theres a few ASA guys running around this website and I dont know any of you guys. Then again im a newbie.

Btw where in ATL did you move? Im still trying to decide where im going to move. Ive found a great place out near Carrolton I may give a try. Feel free to PM me if you dont want to release that info publicly of course. Those crazy flight attendants may come track you down
